Last night's The Big Bang Theory third season premiere wasted no time in reuniting Leonard and Penny.  Rather than dragging on these two for yet another season, Penny immediately jumped Leonard upon his return from their three month arctic expedition.  However, when Sheldon finds out the gang made up evidence to shut him up and that it was Leonard's idea, he immediately goes to confront Leonard, interrupting his friend's chance.

It turns out Sheldon already sent a University-wide email saying that their evidence support string theory and that he was going to win the nobel prize.  After he finds out the evidence was faked, he has to send out a correction email and is incredibly humiliated at school the next day.  He decides to run away and just as Leonard is about to get with Penny again, Wolowitz and Raj come over to inform him that Leonard has run away to Texas to his mom.  Penny makes Leonard go with the boys to retrieve him.

The boys head to Texas and are unable to convince Sheldon to return, that is until his mother tries to argue him that evolution is just his opinion.  Sheldon returns home with the boys and Leonard is finally able to get his moment alone with Penny.  However, after the do it, things are definitely awkward amongst the friends.

The name of the episode, "The Electric Can Opener Fluctuation," refers to the device the guys used on the expedition to fake the data.
