Alicia publicly resigns her position as State's Attorney with Peter standing by her side. She praises her husband for helping her through this difficult time. Later she meets with Cary, Diane, and David Lee to talk about coming back to the firm. Diane welcomes her home but Alicia quickly realizes that things may not be what they seem when she hears they have been calling her clients saying that she won't be returning the firm. Peter encourages Alicia to start her own firm and take her clients with her. Later, Kalinda points out that this has only been a complete misunderstanding and encourages Alicia and Diane to talk. They do, and Alicia is once again welcomed back but when a big client threatens to drop the firm due to her scandal, she finds herself out in the cold once again.

Kalinda steals evidence from Lemond Bishop's computer to give to Geneva Pine in order to save Diane and Cary. Unfortunately the evidence is eventually traced back to her. Despite telling Cary that she will be fine, when he returns to her apartment he finds it empty. Kalinda is gone.
