Lauren Conrad who?

Audrina Patridge of The Hills is on center stage lately as her relationship with Justin-Bobby dominates episode after episode of the MTV quasi-reality show.

He's a loser. But boy, watching them square off week after week is almost as entertaining as Spencer Pratt's deluge of passive-aggressive comments.

Another Monday, another episode of MTV's maddeningly addictive, quasi-reality show The Hills, in which we already know what happens because the stars are quasi-celebrities and their lives are covered non-stop by the celeb news media. Woohoo!

In the clip below, Justin-Bobby gets into a fight with Audrina. After this, they may just break up... oh, wait, she's pathetic and always takes him back (see last week's episode). And the other "guy" he mentions hasn't been in the picture for months.

One's hot, the other isn't. One is nice, has an awesome accent, can formulate complete sentences and even showers. The other, not so much. Or at all.

Naturally, for Audrina Patridge, it was an easy call - pick the complete loser. That and some Speidi sibling drama made for a great episode of The Hills.

The City is coming to MTV. Of course, Whitney Port is already on MTV. On The Hills. So she's staying put. Only moving across the country! Confused yet?

It has been rumored for weeks, but MTV finally confirmed that The Hills' Whitney Port will headline a new spin-off, The City. The show will track her journey from L.A. to N.Y., where she works for designer Diane Von Furstenberg and meets new friends and guys.

If it sounds like The Hills, only East Coast style... OMG it so is. Can't wait!!!!

What happens when Holly Montag tries to play peacemaker between estranged frenemies Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag? A lot of contrived, useless dialogue.

Still, this is what we've come to expect from The Hills - and Spencer Pratt is always there with a spate of manipulative, snide comments to liven things up.

Meanwhile, Whitney Port makes a lot of expressive faces, Lauren Conrad lies around in a bikini and Audrina dates two guys: Colin and that loser Justin-Bobby.

Lauren Conrad looked cute. Whitney Port gave advice. Spencer Pratt acted like a jerk to a record three members of the Montag family. Stephanie Pratt became a drama queen. Brody Jenner got on her case. Doug Reinhardt defended himself. Badly.

Spencer Pratt is a tool. But he makes The Hills more entertaining.

In addition to cat fights, passive-aggressive comments and the beauty of Lauren Conrad (below), tonight's all-new episode of The Hills will include a special musical highlight: the premiere of Britney Spears' new single, "Womanizer."

"Obviously I miss her. She was my best friend for a really long time. One day hopefully we will be able to work through this and patch some things up." - Heidi Montag.

Does this mean a reconcilation between The Hills' Lauren Conrad and her estranged ex-BFF is coming? Maybe not imminently, but Montag claims she's open to it.

Or at least moving out of the house she lived in on The Hills.

Guess dealing with Lauren Conrad and her catty lifelong BFF Lauren Bosworth 24-7-365 was ultimately too much to stomach for Audrina Patridge.

Watch for the fire and brimstone as you turn on your TV in early '09.

Sources are reporting that MTV is going to spin The Hills off into yet another reality TV show - starring the beautiful but underused Whitney Port.

The MTV series will apparently be called The City and will feature Whitney Port, Whitney’s boyfriend (Jay Lyon) and N.Y. socialite Olivia Palermo.

Whitney will be relocating to New York (if she has not already done so, that is) to work with big time celebrity fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.

The Hills, of course, was spun off of Laguna Beach early in 2006, usurping and making a star of one of its principal cast members, Lauren Conrad. Whitney Port and Lauren have become friends through work at various fashion jobs from 2006-present.

Whitney Port is great and all, but can she carry her own show?

We like The Hills as much as the next site (okay, a lot more), but two things really bug us about this new spin-off:

1. The fact that legitimate news sources have confirmed this news, but we will still have to wait weeks (if not months) for MTV to announce it because it will presumably be unveiled on an episode of The Hills, which is absurd in itself, as the girls are now bona fide stars whose lives are public knowledge.
2. The name. Annoying people from New York, who misguidedly believe it is the only city in the universe, often refer to it as "The City." They will this it up, while those of us not from that metropolitan area will continue to nurture inferiority complexes.
