When the FBI investigates the case of an armored car robbery, Cho and Vega head out to canvas locations where the three men may have been seen. When they enter a diner, Vega realizes that at least two of the men are there but when Cho tries to stop them from leaving, the third member appears and opens fire. Although Cho manages to shoot one of the men, the third man shoots Vega. She later dies at the hospital.

The entire team is devastated, especially Wiley who had just asked Vega out on a date. She had said yes. A tearful Cho makes the call to inform Vega's next of kin.

The manhunt for the three man team finds them trying to get medical supplies and the chase leads the FBI to a suburban home where the men are holding two hostages. When SWAT decides to go in and Jane realizes that Lisbon is going with them, Jane enters the house first. He manages to get the two hostages released and two of the men to turn on one another. Then Cho enters with SWAT and shoots them both.

After Vega's funeral, Jane tells Teresa he can't stay at the FBI any longer. He has to leave and she can either come with him or not.
