The staff hears rumors that the Scranton branch will be downsized, but Michael tries to distract everyone by throwing a birthday party ... even though the nearest birthday is a month away. Dwight tries to forge an alliance with Jim to protect himself from getting axed. Later, Michael surprises everyone by pledging a generous amount to a charity event.
