Exclusive Interview: What's Ahead for Katerina Graham on The Vampire Diaries?

Katherine's return may have been the highlight of the season one finale, but Vampire Diaries viewers should not forget about the transformation of Bonnie.

This character finally embraced her status as a witch and made it very clear to Stefan: don't mess with me. In an exclusive TV Fanatic interview, Katerina Graham talked about what's ahead for Bonnie on season two...

Talk about the concluding scene of "Fool Me Once."
That was a tough scene. They say art imitates life; it’s just a little theory. My grandmother had died that week and I had come from the funeral the day before that scene. I was a mess. Literally, it wasn’t Elena holding Bonnie, it was Nina holding Kat in that scene. I think that’s why it felt so real. Nina was the only person that I told, since I really didn’t want to be anywhere except with my mom. It was really tough, but I wanted to bring life to the writing and the heart of work of the cast and crew put it in. I’m glad people see that in it... It completely changed Bonnie and made her realize that if she had just said “no” from the beginning and stood up for herself that her grandmother might have still been alive, and that effects the rest of her choices when it comes to dealing with the vampires. Her resentment for taking away someone even though Damon just wanted Katherine, and it wasn’t specifically his fault, it was definite tied to it. If he hadn’t of made such a grave demand, everyone would still be alive.

Does season two push the bar even more than the first season?
Just the first episode alone raises the bar. It’s very, very rare in TV for the second season of any show to overtake the first one. But the first episode back just... I read it and I was shocked. This is my job, and I shouldn’t be shocked [laughs]. I read it just like a fan. When I get a new script I sit down and I can’t stop reading. It’s not a script to me, it’s an amazing story and I have to know what happens next...

People need to film themselves watching the Vampire Diaries first episode, and seeing their reactions. I would like nothing more than to see the fans YouTube their reactions and then talking about it. I’m dying to know what they think. Fans, Tweet me the link to your YouTube reaction!

Ian Somerhalder Preps Fans for a Different Side of Damon Salvatore

Fans of The Vampire Diaries are accustomed to a snarky, confident Damon Salvatore. That's the beloved character star Ian Somerhalder played to perfection on the first season of this CW smash.

But the cast member says viewers should prepare themselves for a different side of Damon. The return of long-lost love Katherine will have a significant effect on this blood sucker, as Somerhalder details in a new interview with EW.

Read an excerpt from the conversation below:

Ian Photo

Katherine comes back, and it’s the chicken or the egg thing. In the story, Katherine obviously came before Damon, and Damon learned a lot of his antics from Katherine and then 150 years of cynicism. When I watch Nina be Katherine, it’s crazy, the similarity that you see between Katherine and Damon.

She starts wreaking havoc in a very similar way that for most of season 1 Damon wreaked havoc - because he wanted something. You’re gonna see Damon in a way in which you haven’t necessarily seen him before dealing with Katherine and what happens after so many years of longing and wanting to be with someone, being hurt and let down in that extreme manner. It’s a lot of fun watching Katherine and how powerful and manipulative and sexy and crazy she is. It’s a lot of fun to play.

Exclusive Interview: Sara Canning on Aunt Jenna, Season Two of The Vampire Diaries

Her niece is in love with a vampire and her nephew wants to become a vampire.

Indeed, it should be an interesting season ahead for Aunt Jenna on The Vampire Diaries, as Sara Canning spoke to TV Fanatic this week about her role, season two - and her ultra sexy co-star. Excerpts follow...

Ian Somerhalder was named Entertainment Weekly’s Sexy Beast. How does it feel to work on set with a sexy beast now?
Isn’t that crazy? Mad props and respect to Robert Pattinson, but I was like “wow, this is a big deal." There are a few vampires that people are in love with. I think people love Ian for different reasons. I think people really love the character of Damon, and its nice to see a vampire be allowed to be a badass because we’re seeing a lot of vampire love stories, and vampires trying to grab hold of the humanity they have left and find their human qualities. It’s refreshing to watch a destructive force like Damon. I think Ian’s perfect for the role. He’s one of the most charming people you’ll meet and then he can just turn on that crazy side as well.

What can we look forward to this season?
Without being allowed to say much, some of the major points that have been established are Katherine returning and how that’s going to affect the brothers and the entire town. Jenna has let Katherine into the house and it's going to create a lot of tension with her and Elena because Katherine has become this puppet master and you never know who is who. Jenna is one of the only characters left who doesn’t know about the supernatural beings in Mystic Falls. For her, it will really test her as a parental figure and as friend to have Katherine messing with everyone and misleading Jenna. There are other major secrets that are being revealed.

A "Huge Journey" Ahead on The Vampire Diaries, Producer Teases

With just two days to go until the season two premiere of The Vampire Diaries, fans are anxious to every nugget of information they can find about what's on tap.

Enter Kevin Williamson. The producer spoke to Collider this week and while he shied away from any major spoilers, he revealed just enough about Katherine and Tyler and flashbacks to get us even more excited than before for Thursday night...

What can you tell us about season two?
Katherine being back in Mystic Falls is a bit of a game changer for the show. It’s about, “How is that going to affect Damon and Stefan, in terms of Katherine now being back in town?” It’s so hard to talk about it without giving anything away because it seems like everything is a surprise and everything is a twist. But, Katherine comes back and pretty much states why she’s back. It will be fun to watch that play out. If you’ve watched our show in the past, you know that there’s always more than one reason why someone is there. It’s a huge journey.

Has Katherine changed?
She’s meaner. Actually, it’s going to be interesting to watch. She’s different, in the sense that she doesn’t have to wear corsets anymore. I’m scared to say because it will tease where she’s been. What she’s been up to is a bit of a secret.

Maiara Walsh to Woo Jeremy Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries

Maiara Walsh has signed on to be killed off The Vampire Diaries. At least that's what it sounds like.

The 22-year old actress, best known for her role as Gaby's niece on Desperate Housewives last season, will guest star on the October 7 episode of this CW hit.

Walsh Pic

As told to TV Guide Magazine by producer Kevin Williamson, Walsh will portray a Mystic Falls high school student who "sets her eyes on Jeremy and encourages him to party it up at the Lockwood house."

Hmmm... based on what we know about the focus on the Lockwood (i.e. werewolf) Curse this fall, along with Jeremy's luck with women, we don't foresee Sarah sticking around beyond one episode.

The Vampire Diaries, meanwhile, kicks off its new season on September 9. That's just over a week away!!!

Courtney Ford Previews Character on The Vampire Diaries

Courtney Ford is coming to The Vampire Diaries.

The former Dexter star will recur on season two as Vanessa Monroe, a Duke University graduate student who assists Alaric and Damon with Isobel's research.

As you might expect, this character has a "conflict," Ford tells E! News.

"She studies all this wonderful mythology and folklore, but half of her is a complete skeptic. Half of her is a believer, and half of her is a skeptic, and she goes back and forth. It's a big conflict for her," said the actress.

Ford also made it pretty clear Vanessa would hook up with a male character on the show, but quickly added: "I want to tell you so much, but I can't. They'll kill me if I reveal too much!"

Honestly, this is The Vampire Diaries. They'll probably kill you anyway.
