Klaus makes a major discovery on this holiday-themed episode of The Vampire Diaries, learning that Tyler and the hybrids plan on killing him. He learns this key piece of intel via Hayley, who admits to Tyler that she made a deal with Shane to find her parents.

But Hayley does give Tyler the heads up, so he is able to make a run for it.

In the end, though, as revenge for Tyler's plan, Klaus kills his mother.

Elsewhere, Jeremy learns to control his murderous hatred of Elena and Damon sets her free from the sire bond. Stefan also learns the two slept together.
