Courtney Ford Lands Role on The Vampire Diaries

Courtney Ford has landed the role of a Blue Devil on The Vampire Diaries.

The actress - who recurred last year on Dexter and has guest-starred on Grey's Anatomy and NCIS - will portray Vanessa, a Duke University graduate student who helps Damon, Alaric and Elena sort through Isobel’s past research.

Said roducer Kevin Williamson of the possibly recurring role:

“She’s not without her own intrigue. It’ll be a nice little part for someone. And it’s a part that could evolve into this massive story line or we could gut her like a fish.”

Here's hoping for the former result!

The Vampire Diaries to Explore "Inner Rage" of Tyler on Season Two

While the return of Katherine will be the main focus of season two of The Vampire Diaries, viewers will also be treated to a lot more of Michael Trevino in the role of Tyler.

It will be an angry Tyler, Trevino explained in a recent interview, pointing to the arrive of Uncle Mason (Taylor Kinney) as the basis for this character discovering a lot about himself.

"Tyler's going to start to see certain things and notice certain things within Uncle Mason," Trevino said, adding that Mason will be "a guide to the inner rage of Tyler, and why is he this way, and why's he always fighting with himself emotionally."

Trevino also season a second season romance for his character, telling Zap2It:

"There will be a love interest this season. I know who it is. I can't tell you - it might be somebody who's already in Mystic Falls, one of the ladies, or it might be somebody new."

Who might it be? Head over to our Vampire Diaries forum and take your best guess!

The Vampire Diaries Extended Promo: The Best of Season One

From an exciting trailer to revealing quotes and spoilers, information is pouring out regarding season two of The Vampire Diaries.

But before we can focus heavily on that September 9 premiere, let's go back and relive the very best from season one.

In the extended trailer below, fans are treated to the funniest Damon quotes, along with the most disturbing Katherine scenes. This is the perfect video for those hoping to catch up on anything they missed - or simply be reminded of why this is one of the best shows on television...

The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Spoilers: Producer Speaks on Katherine, Jeremy, Overall Themes

The Vampire Diaries' first season finale was unreal. Katherine, the long-lost love of both Salvatore brothers who "turned" them a century and a half ago, is back.

Much of the season was devoted to the search for Katherine, particularly on Damon's part. What can we expect with her in Mystic Falls? When will they find out?

Executive producer Julie Plec dished on that subject and others in an interview with TV Guide, which we've excerpted from below. Here's what Plec says about ...

Nina Dobrev taking on two characters at the same time: "Nina jokes that Katherine is Nina on Saturday night - definitely feisty, but by no means an evil, manipulative, horrible troll. For her to be able to play both the moral center and soulful, compassionate character, and then the narcissistic, selfish, manipulative, naughty minx is big for her."

Bonnie in the Background

Katherine's agenda: "She sets her sights on basically making sure that the Stefan and Elena love story hits a snag. It's going to be fun seeing Stefan and Katherine come up against each other. Obviously it's going to be fun to see Damon and Katherine because there's a lot of history there, too, but the triangle becomes the square."

When the Salvatores figure it out it's Katherine: "They both know within 15 minutes in the first episode. Damon realizes he was duped, and Stefan comes face-to-face with Katherine. The fun of it is how Stefan responds, as opposed to how Damon does."

The arc of Season Two: "What I loved about what 'Founders Day' gave us is that we had this small town that was building up to its big anniversary, and the long arc of the show is that history repeats itself. We're going to do something like that again this year."

Anna's death: We introduced the character knowing her exit would [have] a profound impact on Jeremy and Damon. For Damon, it was a glimpse of his humanity - he wanted to help her. We definitely knew she was there to make our heroes grow."

Jeremy: "We refuse to say what happens to Jeremy other than the fact that he's 'alive.' Regardless of that, the most important thing for Jeremy is that he's going to come out the other side of this with a much, much deeper and much stronger sense of himself."

The Vampire Diaries Caption Contest 19

We didn't expect to receive a Titanic reference as a response to this week's Vampire Diaries Caption Contest - but, hey, that's why we love this feature so much!

Reader "Elliie" chimed in with the entry published below the photo and we had to reward her for such originality.

Thanks, as always, to everyone that participated and remember to do so every single Friday!

Caroline and Elena

Caroline: You jump, I jump, remember?
Elena: I'll never let go, Caroline. I promise.

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Kevin Williamson on Katherine, Isobel and More!

There's no better source for Vampire Diaries spoilers and information than Kevin Williamson.

The producer spoke to E! News at last weekend's Comic-Con, opening up about everything from Katherine's return to the possible re-appearance of Isobel.

Sit back, take in these teases and then head over to our Vampire Diaries forum to discuss in detail with fellow fans...

Why did Katherine come back? She came back for Stefan. [It's] a bit of a game changer for the show. We have to find out how is this going to affect Damon and Stefan.

Will we learn more about Katherine? There's so much to still know about 1864. What happened? Why wasn't she in the tomb? How did she escape? Where did she go? Why did she come to Mystic Falls to begin with? What brought her to Mystic Falls? And so there are all those fun questions that we're gonna explore and how the Lockwood curse figures into it.

Katherine Photograph

Will there be flashbacks again? Certainly we have three flashback episodes planned, and I'm guessing there'll be four.

Any more Isobel sightings? We haven't individually broken down the back 9 episodes so I'd hate to say no and then turn around and do it and make a liar out of me. So I would say not in the first 12.

What will Tyler's role look like? Tyler's going to sort of learn through the help of his Uncle Mason who comes to town in the very first episode, who and what he is. He's gonna learn about the curse, who he is and how he responds to it.

Ahead for Stefan on The Vampire Diaries: Acceptance, Disgust, Interest

With the September 9 premiere of The Vampire Diaries just six weeks away, the cast and crew spent a lot of time at a Comic-Con panel last week previewing season two. To wit:

  • Read Ian Somerhalder's take on Damon HERE.
  • Read what Nina Dobrev has to say about Katherine NOW.
  • Check out Paul Wesley's thoughts on Stefan, Damon and his character's feelings for Elena below.

On Stefan's reaction to the porch kiss: I'm brokenhearted about the kiss between Damon and Elena. Because as sociopathic and malicious as he is, and maybe a murderer, he knows that I love him. It's the worst insult. At this point Stefan doesn't empathize as much or care. He's more like, 'You know what, I'm not going to deal with this guy.'

Paul at Comic-Con

On his feelings for Elena: He loves her. It's sort of a transformation. He's coming to terms with himself, season two is a lot more about acceptance. This is what I am. He's going to do other things. Laugh, be jovial.

On any interest in Katherine: It's  a mix, he thought he was in love with Katherine at one point, she's the person who is responsible for his immortality. It's heavy. He meets her with disgust and at the same time a little bit of interest.

Nina Dobrev on Elena's Perfect Man: Go Team Defan!

Nina Dobrev is sneaky.

When asked at Comic-Con over the weekend whether she is rooting for Elena to hook up with Damon or Stefan on season two of The Vampire Diaries, the actress replied:

"Defan! Their undisovered brother who is the perfect mix between the two."

Hmmm... how about this: can Dobrev reveal whether or not her character will swap spit again with Damon? "I will be kissing at least one Salvatore brother this season," she said.

Nina Photo

Come on now, Nina, give us something please! What will you be up to this season in the role of Katherine?

"She's back and she's wreaking havoc and she's up to no good. So it's gonna be fun to kind of step into Damon's shoes a little bit and play with them and mess with everyone's minds."

Interesting. We'll take it. For more on The Vampire Diaries, check out Ian Somerhalder's interview; along with the first official trailer for season two. We can't wait!

Ian Somerhalder on Season Two of The Vampire Diaries: Damon is an Idiot

Katherine is back.

This character shocked viewers by her appearance on The Vampire Diaries May finale; and the first trailer for season two makes it clear that her presence will play a key role on the the show this fall.

Clearly, Katherine's return will affect Damon the most. In what way? Let's find out from Ian Somerhalder himself, as the actor dished on a few Damon-related spoilers in an interview at Comic-Con...

Does Damon still love Katherine? He still wants Katherine like an idiot. It's weird you know, love is a really blinding force. It forces us to do things, stupid things that we all every single one of us has experienced it.

What's in store for him on season two? It's not necessarily going to be the funnest season for Damon. I think that he's going to challenged a lot where I don't think he was used to being challenged. I think there are some things that are gonna wreak more havoc in Mystic Falls than he probably did in season one.

Ian Somerhalder Image

How will Katherine's return affect the Salvatore brothers? A tentative alliance. That's the interesting thought is that it might actually form, that alliance may have to get stronger because she's going to wreak havoc for both of them, whether Katherine wants Stefan or Damon, Stefan wants nothing to do with her, for the most part. Until he does. If he does.

Not exactly the clearest answer possible. Guess that means we'll need to tune in for The Vampire Diaries season premiere on September 9 and find out more.

The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Preview: "I'm Katherine"

We haven't officially met. I'm Katherine.

The cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries gathered at Comic-Con yesterday and presented the first official trailer for this show's highly-anticipated second season.

We'll be posting interviews with Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and other stars throughout the week - but let's start with actual footage from this fall's new episodes. As seen below, Katherine will waste no time in making her presence in Mystic Falls felt.

But you might be surprised at who she claims to have come back for.

Sit back, get comfortable and see what's in store on our favorite CW series. Then, head over to our Vampire Diaries forum and discuss it all...
