The Vampire Diaries Caption Contest 18

Welcome back, fans, to the 18th edition of The Vampire Diaries Caption Contest.

This week's Caption Contest winner is M. Plz. Congratulations and well done!

The winning entry, in all its melancholy and contemplative glory, appears below.

Honorable mentions for this week go out to May, Laura and VDluv.

Thanks to everyone for playing and good luck again next time!

Drunk Damon

Dear Journal,
Feeling listless again today. It began at dawn, when I tried to make a smoothie out of beef bones, breaking my juicer.
And then at the parade, disaster. It was unmistakable.
Stefan and Elena are totally in love.
"Stelena." Everytime I try to destroy this cute and adorable, while sickening and annoying relationship it only comes back stronger like some sexually ambiguous horror movie villain.
Here I am, about to turn 30, and I've sacrificed everything only to be shanghaied by the bi-curious machinations of doughy misshapen teens.
Am I missing something, Journal? Is it me? Of course its not me. Its Stefan. What is it about him, Journal? Is it the arrogant smirk? Is it the store-bought home perm? You know, Journal, I noticed something yesterday. Of course. Its coming clear to me now.
If I can't destroy this relationship, I will have to destroy the man!

The Vampire Diaries: Casting for a Blue Devil

The Vampire Diaries deals with vampires, of course. Also, witches.

Next season, we'll learn more about werewolves.

Now, we can also confirm the presence of one more species on the show: Blue Devils.

The CW hit is casting the possibly recurring role of Vanessa. Look for this character to be a beautiful, intelligent graduate student at Duke University. She'll assist Damon and Alaric with their werewolf research.

More of Damon and Alaric teaming up on season two? We can't wait!

The Vampire Diaries Caption Contest 17

For the sake of Ian Somerhalder, the celebrity most involved in the Gulf Coast oil spill clean-up, we had to award this week's Vampire Diaries Caption contest prize to "Sabrina."

She made us proud with the winning entry, posted below. We're sure Somerhalder would agree.

Thanks to everyone that took part in this week's feature and remember to come back and play every week!

Shelia: No Stefan! You can NOT go kill all the BP executives!
Stefan: But the poor baby turtles!!!

Nina Dobrev: Bloody on Set!

A handful of Vampire Diaries spoilers have made it clear:

We're gonna see plenty of Katherine on season two of this CW hit.

Now, fresh off her first day of shooting new episodes, star Nina Dobrev has Tweeted a similar tease. She's either posing as Katherine below, following a particularly gory scene, or actors are forced to kill their own food on set...

Wrote the actress on her Twitter page, regarding season two: Gonna work hard, prolly lose sleep and blood. And take blood. Lotssss of blood.

Hear that, residents of Mystic Falls? Lock your doors at night. Katherine is hungry.

Second Season Premiere of The Vampire Diaries to Be Titled...

We already know when The Vampire Diaries will return with new episodes: Thursday, September 9.

Now, we can tell you the title of this show's second season premiere: "The Return."

It's safe to assume this is a reference to Katherine, but it may also include John Gilbert, who David Anders says might not be as dead as we initially believed.

Either way, it's an issue worth discussing in our Vampire Diaries forum and it's just one more reason to look forward to this fall. Seriously, is it September yet?!?

The Vampire Diaries Season Two Promo: O, Damn!

If you re-arrange the letters in Damon, is it any coincidence they spell out "O, Damn?"

No, according to the following promo for season two of The Vampire Diaries. It features the very best (and funniest and hottest) of Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore, the most layered, entertaining blood sucker on television.

Drool over Damon below and remember: The show returns with new episodes on September 9. Visit our Vampire Diaries spoilers section now for a look at what's on tape.

Taylor Kinney Cast in Key Vampire Diaries Role

Taylor Kinney has landed a key new role on The Vampire Diaries.

The actor, who starred on Trauma and has appeared on Bones, will portray the recurring role of Mason Lockwood.

As previously reported, this character will arrive in Mystic Falls as the brother of the late Mayor Lockwood. He'll anchor a focus on this family and the show's overall werewolf mythology.

Kinney will debut as Mason on the September 9 second season premiere. We can't wait!

The Vampire Diaries Caption Contest 16

There were many great submissions to this week's Vampire Diaries Caption Contest.

But we've awarded the winning entry to "Jenna" because that user references our favorite summer guilty pleasure: Pretty Little Liars.

If you don't watch that show, you should. And if you didn't participate this week in this contest, don't worry: there's always next time!

Alaric: I don't get it. Who's A?
Jenna: That's what I'd like to know.

Katerina Graham Teases "Stronger" Bonnie on Season Two of The Vampire Diaries

In one of our favorite developments from the first season finale of The Vampire Diaries, Bonnie made it clear to Stefan:

She's no longer an innocent, overwhelmed witch. This character means serious business, especially when it comes to keeping Elena safe.

Asked by The New York Post this week if that trait will be a focus of season two, Katerina Graham made it very clear: Oh yes! Here are a few excerpts from her interview:

Does season two pick up immediately after events from the finale?
Yep, it’s pretty insane. And I will say that Bonnie is really, really tough in the first episode back. She is not playing around. Bonnie will eff you up if you mess with her! She is also going to have to deal with Katherine. And that’s a whole new beast. Literally.

Bonnie and Damon

Will her powers will only continue to grow?
She’s going to become even stronger. But it’s important she stay vulnerable, too. You don’t want someone to raise hell with no motivation behind it. You can never forget the loss of a loved one and I don’t think she’ll ever get over losing her grams. That was her rock to this world. She wouldn’t do anything simply out of a hate for vampires. I don’t think she could ever justify that.

The Vampire Diaries returns with new episodes on September 9.

Ian Somerhalder Makes Plans for The Vampire Diaries to Go Green

As a native of Louisiana, Ian Somerhalder is appalled. He can't believe what's become of the Gulf Coast following April's BP oil spill, nor can he ignore the problems this country has with its energy sources.

"Basically, the entire area is shut down," he said last month. "Everyone from the waitress who serves you breakfast to the guy who owns the charter boat to the shrimpers - they all literally rely on the ocean to keep their industry going."

Now, The Vampire Diaries star is hoping to do something about it. He told Zap2It:

"I just became involved with a very strong green energy company that produces portable, mobile green power. The company's called Go Green Mobile Power. Our first prototype is going to be done in a few days."

Somerhalder knows it takes a great deal of fuel to power a movie or television show set. That's why he's hoping these innovating generators can help alleviate that issue.

"It's harmful, and we can start changing that a little bit. We can get rid of these noisy, stinky, disgusting gas generators. There's going to be a lot of thought that goes into this revolution that's going to happen," he said.

Whether or not the actor succeeds in his goal to bring this technology to the set of The Vampire Diaries, he should be applauded for taking such a pro-active stance.
