Jesse Tyler Ferguson to Reprise Role on Ugly Betty

When Ugly Betty moves to Wednesday nights in January, viewers will have an especially hilarious reason to tune in:

Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has agreed to reprise his season one role as Dr. Farkus, Betty's orthodontist, on the show's first installment of 2010, which will air on January 6.

Might Ferguson, who plays Mitchell on the funniest new show of the season, perform the history braces removal on Betty?

Executive producer Silvio Horta remained mum on that topic when asked by Michael Ausiello. He simply said:

“It’s a really fun scene between the two of them."

Fortunately, ABC viewers won't even need to turn the channel that night to find out. Modern Family airs at 9, while Ugly Betty slides into the 10 p.m. time slot for the remainder of its season.

America Ferrara Dishes on All Things Ugly Betty

While Ugly Betty has aired to critical acclaim so far this season, the move to Friday nights hasn't helped the show's ratings.

Fortunately for fans, America Ferrara and company are moving to Wednesday nights in early 2010. The actress discussed that developments, and others, in a recent interview with TV Guide Magazine...

On the season so far: I’m really proud of the work we’ve been doing this season. And our audience has been responding in an overwhelmingly happy way about the creative place of the show, which is very fulfilling. We’re making episodes that we’re proud of. That’s enough for me.

From Be-Shure

On changes to Betty: The plan was always whatever her physical and her inside journey is, that it would happen naturally and organically. It’s been spoken about as a big makeover but really she pushed her bangs to the side and has a new pair of red glasses. It’s not a makeover so much as tiny steps.

If you saw those episodes where those things happened it wasn’t anyone sitting her down and saying ok, you’re going to have a makeover. It was just natural to want to make a few changes. It wouldn’t feel right for the character any other way. Betty’s growing up and she’s accepting that she’s not always going to be the same person and that it’s ok to grow and maybe shed some things that are masks a little bit.

The series won't return until January, but you can always catch up on the latest Ugly Betty music and quotes on TV Fanatic!

Chris Williams to Appear Alongside Sister on Ugly Betty

The news just keeps getting better for Ugly Betty fans:

First, it's been all but confirmed by ABC that the show is moving to Wednesday nights in January. So long, bad ratings and cancellation rumors!

Now, Michael Ausiello reports that Chris Williams will guest star in an episode that airs in early 2010. Moreover, the real-life brother of Vanessa Williams will portray Wilhediva Hater, Wilhelmina's drag queen doppelganger!

Chris Williams

How will this possibly go down?

According to an Ugly Betty insider, Wilhelmina learns that someone has been regularly impersonating her at a drag club. She initially aims to shut the act down, but "the two end up working together,” says the source.

Chris Williams has guest-starred on 24 and Californication, among other hit shows.

Ugly Betty: Bound for the Bahamas!

If this really is Ugly Betty's final season, the ABC hit is going out with a bang. Or at least a few rays of sunshine.

On the show's next new episode, airing December 4, it's off to the Bahamas for Mode and company.

For Betty, her love triangle with Matt and Amanda will reach a boiling point on the beaches of the Caribbean, while pop star Shakira guest stars on the episode as herself.

The Ugly Betty cast takes us behind the scenes of this Bahamian adventure in the video below:

Is This the Final Season of Ugly Betty?

Is the end near for Ugly Betty?

The show's ratings have been plummeting throughout season four, as its move to Friday nights may drive a nail into the comedy's coffin.

ABC is unlikely to yank the series of its schedule, but it's also unlikely to renew it for a fifth season. How is creator Silvio Horta preparing for such an uncertain future?

“Obviously, we all want the show to continue, but I don’t want to get caught off guard and have them tell me it’s the last season and have to wrap everything up in one episode,” he told Michael Ausiello. “So I have two season-ending arcs planned — one where it’s the last season and one where we continue for another one.”

Eastwick Canceled; Ugly Betty Moving to Wednesdays?

The magic has run out on Eastwick.

The witch-based drama will complete its 13-episode order for ABC and then leave the air for good.

While this is upsetting news for fans of the series, it might be exactly what Ugly Betty needs. Here's how we make that connection:

ABC insiders have told E! News that the network is considering moving Ugly Betty to Wednesdays at 10 in January, as it's been struggling mightily on Fridays so far this season.

The assumption is that this show would complement new sitcoms Modern Family and Cougar Town well, ensuring that ABC is a quality destination for comedy on Wednesday evenings.

Betty, on the Attack

Of course, there's another possibility: Lost (finally!) returns in early 2010 and it occupied Wednesday nights on ABC last year.

"Honest to god, they haven't given us a date yet," said producer Damon Lindelof recently. "I don't even know what night it's going to be on. We've been on Wednesday at 9 for a while, but now ABC's comedies are actually working. And I actually like Modern Family and Cougar Town, so I'm not sure that they'll move them."

** Update: YES! The show has been confirmed for a move to Wednesdays.

Meanwhile, follow this article's jump for a preview of Friday night's Ugly Betty episode.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler Speaks on Ugly Betty Character

On Ugly Betty, Jamie-Lynn Sigler plays a character very different than Meadow Soprano or, well, Jamie-Lynn Sigler (the Entourage version, that is).

Earlier this season, viewers were introduced to Sigler's Natalie, who met Daniel Meade at a bereavement group and wound up working at Mode.

Guest Starring

In an interview with TV Guide, excerpts of which are below, the actress dishes on Natalie's unique look and more. Check it out...

Is Natalie funny? She's not Marc, Amanda, Wilhelmina... or Betty even. They all have real caricatured hilarity and they play it perfectly to a T. For me, Natalie is a bit more understated. I think the stuff that happens later might be considered funny.

Does she like Natalie's look? I'm not one of those people who has to look pretty. Let's make a really fun character. So I tried on about 30 wigs. I've never been involved in network television, so I wasn't really aware of the amount of people who need to OK something like your hair. So it was a long, long process, but eventually when it came to be, everybody seemed to like it.

Will Daniel and Natalie date? No. They told me that from the beginning. This is not going to be a typical love interest role. Being a fan of the show, I don't think it would be right so close to Molly's death for him to meet a woman in a bereavement group and start dating her.

Fisher Stevens to Recur on Ugly Betty

Fisher Stevens is moving in to Ugly Betty. Literally!

The actor - most recently known for his run as George Minkowski on Lost; but forever known for his role in the movie Short Circuit - will play Mr. Z on the series, Betty's new landlord.

In casting the character, Ugly Betty producers said they looking for a “New York actor who could go head-to-head with America Ferrera." We think they've found him.
