Ugly Betty Rumor Confirmed: Ashley Jensen Leaving

We had previously reported the rumor that Ashley Jensen was leaving Ugly Betty at the end of this season.  With her ridiculously reduced screen time - and unrealistically long pregnancy - on the show, we had no reason not to believe it was true.

However, we still feel obligated to report that ABC has confirmed this Jensen's last season on the series.  Ugly Betty executive producer Silvio Horta told Ausiello Files:

"While we're sad that Ashley will not be returning next season as a series regular, she is still a member of the Ugly Betty family.  So don't be surprised if you see Christina pop back up in Betty's life."

Christina Design a Dream Dress

Jensen will be moving on by co-starring on CBS's new sitcom, Accidentally on Purpose, which stars Jenna Elfman as a San Francisco movie critic that finds herself accidentally knocked up.  We've never seen an actress play a best friend better then Jensen, so we wish the show nothing but the best of luck.

We will, of course, very much miss Christina on Ugly Betty.  Jensen did an amazing job with the very limited screen time she was given on the show.

Ugly Betty Recap: "Sugar Daddy"

Don't let the delay in us putting up last week's Ugly Betty recap be any indication of the episode quality.  Since Conner embezzeled all that money from Meade, the focus has shifted back to where Betty belongs, at Mode, and it's been fantastic.

On Thursday's episode, the Suarez family was forced to raise $15,000 for a downpayment to purchase their home and save it from being sold and turned into a music studio.  Meanwhile, Daniel and Wilhelmina went in front of a Federal committee to ask for some of that fat bail out money.

You can find out what happened to everyone and if they secured the money in our "Sugar Daddy" recap.

Daniel and Wilhelmina Plead

The episode was actually satirical, funny, and moved the story along.  We loved it!  Here are some of our favorite quotes from the episode:

Betty [about her outfit]: Did I over do it?
Justin: No no, all black is.. Aunt Betty.. you look almost fashionable
Betty: Justin, are you crying?
Justin: No, I'm just proud | permalink
Amanda: Babies are the hot accessory in the gay world. Small dogs, totally five minute ago | permalink

Ugly Betty Recap: "Things Fall Apart"

Thankfully, last night's episode of Ugly Betty definitely continued the trend of plotlines focusing on Mode again!  On last night's episode, Betty and Marc were assigned to studying the Meade publications budget for their YETI project.

Betty and Matt Smile

What Betty ended up unearthing was a big embezzlement plot that incriminated a major character from Ugly Betty that we can only imagine is leaving the show.  Oh and did we mention we now know for sure which character is dying?  Read our "Things Fall Apart" recap to get all the juicy tidbits that happened.

To end on a high note, here's some of our favorite quotes from this episode that wasn't all death and crimes:

Marc: You better carry your own weight, Suarez
Betty: That's it? you're not gonna make a fat joke? We're progressing!
Marc: It was right there! Owell, next time | permalink
Justin: You know what I like to do when I'm trying to get my mind off something or someone? I channel it into a project. Hello, you think I really care about macrame? Okay, bad example because I love macrame! | permalink
Amanda: Betty, a cute-ish guy is here for you. Is he the one you're trying to sleep with to get over that other one?
Matt: Um, I'm right here
Amanda: I know | permalink

Ugly Betty Recap: "There's No Place Like Mode"

As the name of the epiosde implies, this week's episode of Ugly Betty took a departure from the recent relationship drama-centric plotlines and went back to what we all love about Ugly Betty -- Mode!  It was Fashion Week on Betty and therefore the focus was right where it belonged!

Fashion Week

Betty was busy working the crazy designer Heinrich while having her YETI partner, Matt (Eric Daniel Gold) shadowingher around.  Wilhelmina was ready to do whatever it took to get back in the fashion spotligh after disappearing thanks to her relationship with Conner.

Daniel was trying to deal with his very non-fashion girlfriend, Molly.  Elena is no longer Ignacio's nurse, but that doesn't stop Hilda from being angry at the two for dating.

Catch up on all the drama in our "There's No Place Like Mode" recap and find out what happened to everyone.  Here are just some of our favorite quotes from the episode:

Daniel: I really need you to deal with these
Betty: Okay
Daniel: Last year the mandate was for cuffs to be peering out from jackets. At Marc Jacobs' preview last night suddenly they're peaking instead. Can you believe it?
Betty: Nope, I can't
Daniel: It was humiliating. I need an eight of an inch off all of them ASAP. Please use your discretion. I'd be mortified if anyone knew they were mine | permalink
Betty: I only get two tickets to the mode show this year so we have to decide who's going
Justin: I get one, or I tell everyone you still love Ricky Martin
Betty: *gasp*
Justin: I'm sorry I had to play hard ball | permalink
Wilhelmina [about sitting in second row of fashion show]: Well, I'm certainly not going in there
Marc: No. It would be more humiliating than being caught in Crocs | permalink

Ugly Betty Spoilers: Matt's Dad Being Cast

We haven't even met Betty's new love interest, Matt (Daniel Eric Gold), yet, but I feel like I already know him thanks to Ugly Betty spoilers.  We've already learned that his mother will be played by Christine Baranski and now there's a casting call out for his father.

According to Ausiello Files, Ugly Betty is casting for the role of Richard Hartley, a fifty-something Ted Turner-type and the father of Matt, Betty's new love interest she's meeting at YETI.

Wow, we're going to meet both of the parents of Matt.  Sounds pretty serious to us!  We'll leave you with a picture of the hunk from next week's episode, "Things Fall Apart."

While things definitely did not work out for Betty with her last love interest, Jesse, we sure hope things turn out better for our Betty this next time around.  We're about to get introduced to Matt, a colleague at the YETI program played by guest star Daniel Eric Gold.

Ugly Betty Recap: "The Courtship of Betty's Father"

Coinciding with Judith Light's 60th birthday, last night's Ugly Betty was about Claire's 60th Birthday Surprise Party.  As predicted by the title, in addition to the owner of Mode turning 60, Ignacio got a little extra close with his nurse.

Olivia Newton Bird

Meanwhile, when Daniel and Molly run into Conner and Wilhelmina on a date at the same ice skating ring, it forces both couple to try and next the next step.  Find out what happened to everyone in our "The Courtship of Betty's Father" recap.

Here's some of our favorite quotes from the episode, in which the always hilarious Claire was in and responsible for some.

Betty: Mrs Meade, did you shop lift?
Claire: It's not shoplifting if you can afford the item but don't have the funds on you
Betty: Wait, what? I think that is shoplifting
| permalink
Daniel: Shoplifting? I don't even know what that means
Betty: Yeah, neither did your mother | permalink
Wilhelmina: I haven't seen the inside of his apartment
Marc: Has he ever invited you?
Wilhelmina: Of course he has Marc, but he lives in Murray Hill, I'm not barbarian | permalink

Ugly Betty Vague Spoilers

We just got a bevy of vague Ugly Betty spoilers courtesy of Ausiello Files.  First, our favorite industry expert confirmed what we already heard from cast member Mark Indelicato last week: someone is going to die.

Ausiello also gave us two other vague Ugly Betty spoilers.  Apparently, someone's getting married this season!  Oh and the final one is a shocking one... Betty is going to be getting a surprising new boss.  What's happened to Daniel?  He better not be the death!

Ugly Betty Spoilers from Michael and Mark

We have some juicy Ugly Betty spoilers and they come from two of our favorite stars of the show, Michael Urie (Marc) and Mark Indelicato (Justin) who gave the following scoop to Kristin Dos Santos of E! Online.

According to Michael Urie, Bernadette Peters, who plays Jodie Papadakis, the head of YETI, will be back and there will be plenty of more fun scenes of Marc and Betty at YETI.  Marc will be getting a new love interest and Wilhelmina's baby will be born "very soon and it's amazing."

Mark Indelicato told her that "Someone turns evil—and someone is going to die."  Mark said the death will either hapen at the end of the season or at the end of a few episodes.  Thanks for the vaguenes!
