CM Punk kicked off this week's Smackdown by daring Jeff Hardy to make the evening's steel cage match into a "loser leaves WWE" match. Hardy agreed, while Teddy Long announced the winner will face The Undertaker at Breaking Point in a submission match.
- Matt Hardy and John Morrison defeated The Hart Dynasty.
- Michelle McCool came out on crutches and said Melina injured her knee last wee. She sat ringside as Melina beat Layla, after which Melina shoved McCool off her chair.
- WWE Intercontinental champion Rey Mysterio defeated Kane by DQ. The Great Khali then attacked Kane, while Dolph attacked Mysterio.
- Chris Jericho vs. Shad began off as a single match, but turned into a rematch from Summerslam. The Big Show knocked out Shad with a punch.
- CM Punk defeated Jeff Hardy in a great cage match. Jeff then bid farewell to the fans, but said: "When the time is right, I'll see you all again."
This commences the rumored time off for Hardy. Rest assured, he'll return.

Ive been a wrestling fan from the late 60's -early 70's and I saw it progress thru the years. It becomes more & more exciting as time passes. I thoroughly enjoy the divas matches & their poses. I love all the good guys. When I finally hook up with satellite again I will be able to watch a lot more of your shows.
