Smackdown kicks off by showing the end of the Jeff Hardy/CM Punk match at the Bash, a Jeff comes out to a huge pop. He's sporting an eye patch and cuts a short promo about his eye injury being about as realistic as that of Punk.

We then go to our first match...

- Kane beat Jeff Hardy when the latter was distracted by Punk.

- Dolph Ziggler beat John Morrison with a roll-up and grabbing of the tights.

- Melina and Eve Torres beat Michelle McCool and Layla when Melina pinned Layla. Standard, boring WWE Divas tag match.

CM Punk cut the heel promo we've all been waiting for. He rails against Hardy for his dirty record of drugs and suspension, while emphasizing how clean he's always been. Solid job.

- CM Punk beat The Great Khali by DQ when Kane interrupted with a chair and clocked Khali.

- Rey Mysterio beat Chris Jericho to retain the Intercontinental Title in a great match. Afterwards, Edge and Dolph Ziggler attacked Rey.
