11 Hopes Aimed at Arrow Season 4

at .

We are mere weeks away from the start of Arrow Season 4. What do we want to see when the time finally comes for Team Arrow to burst upon the screen?

Well, we're about to share our hopes for the new adventures of Green Arrow, Black Canary, Speedy, John Diggle and Felicity Smoak with you. And we're being hopeful about it. We know there are improvements to be made to Arrow Season 3, and we're going to go with the assumption they're on the table.

Let's see what we've got!

1. Oliver Queen as Green Arrow, Leader

A stronger Oliver Queen as Green Arrow, recommitted to the cause of keeping his city safe, but realizing he no longer has to do it alone. We'd like him to recognize the growth and fortitude of the team that protected the city in his absence and embrace them fully. A great leader knows the value of their team and works by their side.

2. Felicity Refreshed

Felicity getting back to her fun and flirty side, while doing what she loves as the head of Palmer Industries. She's always been at her best when lighter in tone, and that was missing from Arrow Season 3. Being in charge of her career in such a unique way will give her the opportunity to flourish without undue outside influences infringing on her relationship with Team Arrow, and that's a must.

3. Respected Black Canary

Laurel embracing being Black Canary, and how that will affect the decisions she makes from here on out in her career. With Oliver gone, she had the opportunity to improve her vigilantism skills fairly quickly, and hopefully Oliver will look upon her now with more confidence. A nice heart to heart moment between them is due, one in which they finally understand what each has been going through all these years.

4. Diggle Explored

With Diggle's new identity concealment comes a new direction for the character. He's not going to be relegated to driving and/or staying back at the lair, but seen as one of the leaders, and we're excited to see how he and Oliver trade off as leaders of the same team. With the introduction of Damien Darhk, we're also eager to see how he handles going up against the man whose organization is responsible for the death of his brother, Andy. While he may have come to terms with Deathstroke, Darhk is a completely different animal.

5. Badass Thea Queen

The emergence of Thea Queen as a badass superhero in her own right. Word is she'll be experiencing some bumps in the road as she balances her personal life and new love interest with her secret identity, and we're hoping for some lighter moments while she comes to grips with what it's like to juggle a career, a boyfriend and life as a vigilante.

6. A Powerful Foe in Damien Darhk

After witnessing the feat with the arrow in the trailer, we're really excited to learn more about Damien Darhk. We know there is some mysticism in the cards for Arrow Season 4 with the resurrection of Sara and introduction of John Constantine, but what Darhk does with his hand and that arrow are shocking. Does it mean he's a major villain of a sort we've never seen on Arrow? Does he have powers of some sort, mystical or otherwise? We can't wait to find out!

7. A Successful (if realistic) Olicity

It's time for Oliver and Felicity to be in a happy and committed relationship without worry that their love life will come crashing to a halt merely because they are involved in their heroism activities. While being sucked back into the life will certainly have challenges, if this couple is as strong as they're reported to be, then they should have the staying power to make their arrangement work.

8. Reasonable Flashbacks

We're keeping our fingers crossed that the flashbacks blend in better with the current time frame and that scenes aren't cut at inopportune moments to make them happen. While we undersand the idea behind them, they felt so out of place during Arrow Season 3 as to be distracting. With HIVE in the picture, we'd like to see Andy Diggle's life intersecting with Oliver's. That would make a lot of sense and add to the story in the present day.

9. A Reunited Lance Family

The resurrection of Sara should have implications for everyone, and we hope the Lance family finds their way back to each other. It's time for the family to heal and accept one another, flaws and all. Hopefully they'll realize that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to move forward, and they shouldn't squander what they're given.

10. The Return of Mama Smoak

We're also incredibly curious about the return of Donna, and what her presence will mean for the newly happy Felicity. Is she ready to drop a fatherly bomb on Felicity, and does that daddy happen to be the new big bad Damien Darhk? If so, it will be interesting to see that play out for both Felicity and Oliver. We wouldn't turn away from a little Donna and Capt. Lance lovin' either! Artwork by Lord Mesa.

11. Consquences for Malcolm Merlyn

We'd like to see some realistic consequences as a result of handing over the keys of the kingdom to Malcom Merlyn. Additionally, we don't know what's in store for Nyssa, but it appears we're wrapping up the League of Assassins storyline. If that's the case, maybe some closure between these two characters is in order.

Felicity: What game are we playing?
Oliver: We're playing the "reason you know so much about these ghosts is beause you've been helping the team behind my back" game.

Laurel: We need the Arrow.
Oliver: The Arrow's dead.
Laurel: We're hoping that's not the case. We're hoping that you can't change who you are in your bones.
