12 Best New Shows of 2015

at .

While it was hardly love at first sight for all the new programming on the air during 2015, we've managed to pick 12 standouts.

These are the shows that grabbed our attention and never let go.

They're the best of the new shows for 2015. Agree or disagree?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

1. Supergirl

Supergirl was a surprising hit. At first the worry was the show was going to be a re-hash of older Superman shows, only with a girl. Watching the first few episodes was like watching a fawn take its first unsteady steps with what looked like stereotype characters like Winn and Cat. But then the characters began to evolve in a way that caused us to become invested. And now look at it: Supergirl is nothing like her cousin, and Cat is not the ball-breaking take-no-prisoners boss we first thought.

2. Blindspot

Blindspot has been a strong addition to NBC's lineup, with a compelling ongoing mystery and a strong performance by female lead Jaime Alexander. With memorable stories and intriguing possibilities, we can only imagine where the next tattoo will lead!

3. Ash vs Evil Dead

Just about 30 years after the film release of Evil Dead and Bruce Campbell is back as Ash Williams, one of those who unfortunately read from the Necromonican, bringing forth the deadites, changing the world as he knew it. Older, not very wise and with absolutely no responsibility whatsoever, he foolishly reads from it again while drunk and high, releasing the dead once again. We daresay it's more fun than the movies and Campbell has brought along one hell of a group to support his efforts on the series. It all clicks perfectly and strikes every note of gore and comedy we want. It's just too damn short!

4. The Expanse

The Expanse is an interpretation of a series of books by James S. A. Corey, including Leviathan Wakes. It's a space drama, a cautionary tale and a whodunnit that takes a look at squabbles between earth and mars 200 years in the future when supplies, especially water, are incredibly short. The cast is incredible with a film-worthy production. It's not too late to start watching this one!

5. Younger

Younger was on TV Land, so that set off alarm bells even before settling down to watch the pilot. Thankfully, the show was pretty fantastic. Sutton Foster is back on TV and playing one of the best characters on TV in quite some time as a 40-year-old reentering the workforce and life after a divorce. The catch? She decides to tell everyone she's 26 so she can more easily fit in. Foster does it perfectly, of course, but that doesn't mean she's not morally confused about it. It's poignant and hilarious at the same time.

6. UnREAL

UnREAL didn't look all that great from the promotional material, but it quickly became one of the best shows on TV. The characters were fleshed out very well and the dialog was just hilarious. You could actually imagine these characters saying the lines. The acting was first class. Who would have thought a show about a reality show could be so damn addictive?

7. Limitless

Limitless continues on television where the series starring Bradley Cooper left off. It even features him as a producer and a character on the show. Series star Jake McDorman is refreshing and super comfortable as the erstwhile hero, making us all want to take a nip of NTZ to see how far our own brain might go.

8. Agent Carter

Agent Carter was one of the best new shows of 2015 thanks to the talented cast, tight storytelling, and a strong lead character. It didn't matter that Peggy has no super powers or that no one paid her much attention because she was a woman. She proved that she is a true hero and should not be underestimated.

9. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on The CW has really proven to be an interesting and unique new show. The premise of a musical comedy about an insane ex-girlfriend moving across the country to be with their high school boyfriend could have been a disaster, but the writing is witty and sharp and has even earned its star and co-creator, Rachel Bloom, both Golden Globe and Critic's Choice Award nominations. There's nothing too taboo for this show to tackle and the cast is brilliant. It's definitely the best new comedy that you should be tuning in for!Crazy

10. Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones has a winning combination of snappy dialogue and well executed action sequences. With an excellent story at its core, well developed supporting characters, and one of the most chilling villains we've ever seen, this noir take on the super hero tale was truly binge worthy.

11. iZombie

iZombie on the CW is a new show that didn't feel new at all because it didn't have that awkward first season like most newbies. It's consistent in its charm and wit much like Veronica Mars (both created by Rob Thomas) but iZombie no longer needs to rely on that crutch. Each episode delivers a case that lets Liv morph into the victim a bit but she still stays grounded in the long running storylines of the show. Normally a zombie/cop procedural would sound strange but it just works and still feels fresh week after week. Liv's working relationship with Clive is always entertaining. Major's arc is particularly interesting as he becomes more and more tortured but it's Ravi that steals the show. It's one of the best new shows on TV that more people should be watching.

12. Daredevil

No one plays incredibly odd and slightly evil quite like Vincent D'Onofrio, even if Wilson Fisk did sound a little like the body-snatched farmer from Men In Black every time he got worked up. BUT! What made the show REALLY work was Matt Murdock and his quest to save Hell's Kitchen while hanging on to his humanity and morality despite the fact that those he loved were dying or in danger. It would've solved his problem just to kill his rival, but that's not who he he wants to be, and watching him grapple with that was compelling. (It isn't who his Marvel/Netflix counterpart Jessica Jones wants to be either, but she was willing to go there when she knew it was the only way.) Plus the fight sequences were badass.
