This is not your standard medical show!
The Resident may have similar formulas to a traditional medical show, but it's taking on and exploring the health care system in ways that we haven't seen before. This is not a fuzzy, warm, inspirational medical show, and not everything will have a happy ending.
Conrad Hawkins is the show's maverick, a third-year resident whose interpersonal skills may need work but whose devotion to his patients is exceptional. He uses unorthodox methods, is passionate about saving lives, doesn't mind breaking rules, and detests the medical politics.
The Resident Season 1 Episode 1 will air on Sunday, January 21 at 10/9c, and The Resident Season 1 Episode 2 will air in its usual time slot, Monday, January 22 at 9/8c.

1. Dr. Conrad Hawkins - The Resident
Matt Czuchry stars as Conrad Hawkins, a renegade third-year resident who uses unorthodox methods and means to save his patients. He's confident, gifted, and 100% about helping his patients at all costs. He's not with the business side and bureaucracy and challenges the system at every turn.
2. Dr. Solomon Bell - The Resident
Bell is the Chief of Surgery an the face of the hospital. He's arrogant, vain, and the stereotypical surgeon with a God-complex. He's all about the business side of the hospital, and making money and cutting corners might be just as if not more important than saving lives.
3. Dr. Mina Okafor - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
She's ruthless, brutally honest, and damn good at her job. Mina was top of her class and is top tier at the hospital as well. What she lacks in tact and a warm and fuzzy bedside manner, she makes up for in being the best of the best. If you've ever watched Grey's Anatomy, and find yourself a fan of Cristina Yang, you might have just found your new favorite character.
4. Dr. Devon Pravesh - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Every show needs the young, idealistic, rookie who has second thoughts about what they signed up for. That would be Devon. He's the newbie of the bunch, an intern whose first day at the hospital throws him for a loop.
5. Nurse Nicolette "Nic" Nevin - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Emily Van Camp has put her Revenge days behind her and has taken on a lab coat. As a level-headed Nurse Practitioner, Nic is the conscience of the team who keeps everything running. Yes, she's also the romantic interest of Conrad, but that's probably the least interesting aspect of this complicated new character who is passionate about her patients and skirts the rules when need be.
6. Toe to Toe - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
As the Resident's antagonist, Bell was bound to bump heads with the show's hero (or perhaps antihero) Conrad. The two have totally different beliefs about how to handle patients, procedures, and everything else. Despite being just a resident, Conrad fearlessly takes on Bell whenever he sees fit.
7. Showing the Kid the Ropes - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Conrad takes it upon himself to show the new kid the ropes, but things start off a bit rocky between them. After all, Conrad can come across obnoxious, prickly, and uncouth at times. Will the audience get past his first impression and fall in love with him? Will Devon?
8. Patient Care - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Devon takes a spin at treating his first patient with the help of Nurse Nic. So far, his first day at a new hospital is not anything like what he has expected. Will he come to love the job for the good, bad, and ugly?
9. Mina and Her Tech - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Mina is a force to be reckoned with. She's a no-nonsense doctor who is respected by her peers. She's a Nigerian immigrant and woman with something to prove to any and all who doubt her abilities. And she appreciates all aspects of the job, including her gadgets.
10. Another Round - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
What can Conrad and Bell possibly be at odds about this time? These two are always at each other's throats and keeping each other in line. No love is lost between the pair of them.
11. New 'Ship? - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Conrad and Nic have some tension of the sexual variety, but they also have a past. Conrad is emotionally unavailable and Nic isn't accepting anything less than the best. Will the two of them ever rekindle that flame?
12. Group Consult - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Whatever is up with this patient it involves all hands on deck. He or she has caught the attention of nearly all of our team, but if that's the case, then they certainly should be able to diagnose and save the day, right? Maybe not. This isn't your typical warm and fuzzy medical show!
13. Listen to Me - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Conrad makes his case to poor, naive Devon. If he ever wants to make it through his internship, it would be best if he just followed Conrad's lead. He knows best after all.
14. Welcome to Chastian Park Memorial Hospital! - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Welcome to Chastain Park Memorial Hospital, hopefully, we'll all enjoy our stay. As the face of CPMH, Bell couldn't resist striking a pose in front of the place just to remind everyone who he is. Or he could be talking to Mina about something important.
15. Couple's Quarrel - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
There's a disagreement happening at the nurse's station between resident badass Conrad, and nurse badass Nic. Is their disagreement of the personal nature or a professional one? We'll have to tune in to see.
16. Bell's Secret - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Dr. Bell has a secret, at least he thinks it's a secret. His secret can seriously jeopardize the rest of his medical career, and he definitely should do something about it, but he's too arrogant and prestigious to face the cold, hard truth.
17. Devon Checks In - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Devon checks up on his very own patient by himself. Will there be any problems? Is everything on the up and up? We'll have to tune in to find out.
18. Peacocking - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Honestly with these two. How often do the confront one another? Enough that we may have to form a drinking game of some sort, but nothing too strong, otherwise we all might be taking a trip to CPMH ourselves!
19. Secret's Out - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Does Mina find out the truth about Bell's shakey hand? He's arrogant and entitled and not above threatening his colleagues and underlings for his own self-interest. But will Mina be the one to call him out on it?
20. Head NP in Charge - The Resident Season 1 Episode 1
Nic may be a nurse practitioner but she's not here for any of the job description discrimination and superiority business. She's just as talented as the doctors and she's here to show that Nurses are pivotal to the healthcare process too. She's a proud nurse.
21. Preparing for Rounds - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
The doctors of CPMH assemble before their shift. It's time to get updated on patient conditions and receive updates about the previous shift before they start their own.
22. Dr. Lane Hunter - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Melina Kanakeredes stars as Dr. Hunter. She's an oncologist who may be working closely with Bell on a case if this is any indication. Not much is known about Dr. Hunter just yet, but it's good to know that there are just as many female characters as males on this medical series.
23. Turning on the Charm - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Conrad turns on the charm while trying to retrieve some information on a patient. Interpersonal skills are as important in a hospital as anything else, and if he wants a rush on his labs or anything else, it doesn't hurt to be nice and friendly.
24. Tender Care - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
As an oncologist, Dr. Hunter has to see sick and dying patients all the time. It's nice to see that she has a tender bedside manner with her patients. A little TLC does more good than damage.
25. Touches the Heart - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Conrad and Nic may be at an impasse in their relationship, but they both share a genuine desire to help their patients, save lives, and do good at whatever costs. Their patient is in the best and most capable hands with the two of them.
26. Hawkfor? - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
I'm calling it now, this might be the best bromance the show has to offer. Mina and Conrad already appear to have a respect for one another, and both lack tact, though Mina lacks it all the time. They could be the best that this show has to offer bromance-wise. Who says a woman and a man can' be a bromance? Not me!
27. And Another Thing - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
This time Bell is having the last word. These two should have the best knock down drag out showdowns of the series. The tension between the pair of them is palpable. Are you ready for it?
28. Stuck in the Middle - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Dr. Hunter and Devon appear to be discussing the best treatment for their patient, but is anyone going to inform their poor patient as to what's going on? She looks a little lost and a bit bored!
29. Taking a Stroll - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Bell is an acquired taste and most of the staff at the hospital don't exactly acquire it when it comes to him. But even a villain needs a friend. Is Bell's friend Lane? Or is Lane another person turned off by Dr. Bell's less than endearing charm?
30. Fierce Ladies of CPMH - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Mina and Nic could not be more different, but they're both fierce badasses who don't take any crap from anyone. Every show needs a kickass female friendship, and this may be the one to look out for on The Resident. These ladies are the best!
31. Pat on the Back - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
It's not all contempt between these two. Sometimes there's a little love in there too. Bell can give a Conrad a pat on the back every now and then. That's good to know.
32. Angel on the Shoulder - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Nic is the voice of reason out of the bunch, so she's the perfect person to check in and check up on Conrad. He's the type to need someone to set him on the right path every now and then, and Nic is the type of person who can do it.
33. Dancing Close - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
The simmering sexual tension between Nic and Conrad will be the perfect "will they/won't they?" of the show. You're shipping them already aren't you? The question is, what cute mash-up ship name will the fandom come up with for these two?
34. Bell Walks Away - The Resident Season 1 Episode 2
Good for Bell. He learned the art of walking away from a disagreement. Doubtful it'll last, but maybe that's some progress. These two should just hug it out or hash it out over a beer or something.
