1. An Expanded Season

Riverdale Season 1 was a tightly plotted drama, but its biggest flaw was that a lot of the supporting cast did not get time to shine. With 22 Episodes, we should get to see a lot more from some of the characters.

2. A Darker Archie

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa tells Entertainment Tonight, "He [Archie] is the hero of our show, but before he gets to that heroic journey, it’s going to be a journey more of revenge, and a journey of darkness and violence begetting violence."

"So it’s going to be a really different Archie for season two. That’s really exciting. So that was something that we wanted to [do], to get Archie to that place, of course at a terrible cost.

3. No Time Jump In Sight!

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that Season 2 pick up right where Season 1 left off. Some TV shows like to jump forward a few months, but not Riverdale.

4. Fred's Fate Will Be Revealed Early

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed at Comic-Con when we should expect to find out Fred's fate.

"The first episode is basically Archie, the gang, all the town sitting and waiting to find out what’s going to happen with Fred.”

5. Trouble for Bughead

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed to TV Line that the Southside Serpents and the North side of town will go to war. Considering Jughead is hanging around with the Southside Serpents, he's going to have to make some tough decisions regarding his future with blond-haired beauty.

6. More Kevin!

Casey Cott has been upped to a series regular, and that means there will be a lot more Kevin. Episode 3 is titled "The Watcher in the Woods, " and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed at Comic-Con that the episode would be all about the character.

“The story is what does Kevin do when he’s not in that circle of friends. Is he doing something that’s potentially dangerous? We get to explore that a little bit.”

7. Welcome, Hiram Lodge!

Mark Consuelos is in as Hiram Lodge, meaning we should probably prepare for some frosty family dinners as Veronica throws shade at her father for all of his wrongdoings.

8. Twins!

Polly will give birth to her twins during Riverdale during Season 2 and we sincerely hope that she does not call them Cheryl and Jason because that would be pretty darn awkward.

9. The Ex-Files

Graham Phillips is tapped to appear as Veronica's ex-boyfriend in two episodes early in the season. How will Archie feel about this old relationship being shoved in his face?

10. Brit Morgan Is In

Per Deadline, Brit Morgan has been added to the cast as Penny, and she helps the Southside Serpents with their legal woes and prefers to be repaid in favors as opposed to cold hard cash.

11. Welcome, Toni Topaz

Popular comic book character Toni Topaz will make her entrance and will “sort of Jughead’s guide into the Serpent world… she’s almost like a female Jughead.” ET Online confirmed Vanessa Morgan will play the character.

12. The Poster Is Awesome!

The Riverdale Season 2 poster show's off the younger characters while maintaining that Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe would be the go-to place for the characters. Oh, and the series returns October 11!

13. Veronica and Archie Will Be More Intimate

Camila Mendes revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Veronica and Archie will be more sexual in Season 2. “We’re even more sexual now,” says Mendes.

“Death brings out certain passions or thirst for life. So they’ve definitely been friskier. But I think now because of all this darkness and stuff in Archie’s life and Veronica’s as well, their relationship does feel more grounded. It has more substance than just physical.”

14. Mary Andrews Is Back!

The most recent trailer confirmed Molly Ringwald was returning as Mary Andrews. Will she try to take Archie out of town now that her worst fears have come true?

Riverdale Quotes

Alice: These diaries are your past, and your past is crushing you. Edgar says that...
Betty: What, Mom? What does some guru who’s running a heaven’s gate commune for pregnant runaways and wives of serial killers have to say about my diaries?
Alice: We know that you look down on the Farm, Betty. But, Edgar has done nothing but help me. He’s encouraged me to embrace everything that I was ashamed of and become the best version of myself.

Veronica: What's happening out there? Do we know? Is it about me?
Jughead: I have a strong inkling, and no. Also, I'd let it go.
Veronica: Yes, but you're you and I'm me. You do you, girl. I'll be back.
[She leaves]
Kevin: What was it like before she got here? I honestly cannot remember.
