Gillies first acting debut was in Street Legal, a television drama played in New Zealand. He has also appeared on Snow Queen, NCIS, and True Blood. Following his guest appearance on True Blood, Daniel hopped onto the set of The Vampire Diaries as Elijah, a recurring role in season 2.
