Frances Conroy studied drama at the Neighborhood Playhouse and attended the Juilliard School in NYC.
She is best known for her role as Ruth in Six Feet Under, however she has also been in the Law and Order, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, Nip/Tuck, Happy Town, Grey's Anatomy, United States of Tara, and is currently acting in American Horror Story.
Conroy has also acted in many films, including Sleepless in Seattle, The Crucible, Maid in Manhattan, Catwoman, The Aviator, The Wicker Man, The Tale of Despereaux, Last Chance Harvey, and Stone.
