Bio
Ray MacDonnell has been there from the beginning.
He joined the cast of All My Children in 1970 as Dr. Joe Martin and celebrated his 35th anniversary on January 5, 2005. This character remains one of Pine Valley's most upstanding citizens, along with his wife, Ruth.
MacDonnell was born and raised in Lawrence, Massachusetts, attending nearby Amherst College. He attended the Royal Academy in London as a Fulbright scholar.
Ray also appeared as the popular character Philip Capice on The Edge of Night for nearly eight years.
In 2004, MacDonnell received a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He resides in New York with his wife, Patricia, and is the father of three children.
