What a casting coup for As the World Turns!

The show has taken on former General Hospital star Lynn Herring for the role of Audrey, the gold-digging mother of cut-up Henry Coleman. Look for her to debut on July 24 and stick around for at least six weeks.

How did this part come aboard? Herring told TV Guide Magazine:

"Recently when The Young and the Restless thought they might have to re-cast the role of Jill, I let it be known that I was interested in the part. As it turned out, Jess Walton stayed and that’s the way it should be. But I think CBS got wind that I would love to be back on the boards.

"I haven’t had an agent in 10 years. Port Charles went off the air six years ago. And I went back to GH for one day for Lila Quartermaine’s funeral. That’s been it."

Her name is Carly and she's an alcoholic.

This fact will soon be driven home on As the World Turns when the character goes back to the bottle.

“She’s only pretending to go to her AA meetings,” Mick Hazen, who plays son Parker, told TV Guide Magazine. “When Parker catches her drinking, Carly offers him a deal. She says, ‘If you don’t tell anyone about my drinking, I won’t give you a hard time for dropping out of school and being a screw-up.’”

As Hazen adds, though, Mick isn't old enough to comprehend addiction. He doesn't realize how much of a problem his mother has... until disaster strikes.

On an upcoming episode, Carly gets shloshed and nearly runs over her lover, Craig.

“Parker’s hit with a ton of guilt,” Hazen said. “Eventually, he’s going to realize he’s been enabling his mom and that he’s only made things worse—and then he’ll really beat himself up. It’s a horrible position for a kid to be in.”

Forbes March is joining the cast of As the World Turns.

According to Soap Opera Digest, the actor that played Nash on One Life to Live will debut as Mason on July 14.

"Mason's gay, too, so [he and Noah] have that in common. And we'll see where it goes!" said March.

On May 20, Trent Dawson’s Henry Coleman, and his girlfriend, Vienna will lose the baby they’ve been expecting. As a result, a devastated Henry blames the tragedy on his BFF, Katie.

It’s a messy situation, reports TV Guide Magazine:

As viewers know, Vienna volunteered to be a surrogate mother for Katie and her husband Brad; she then hid the fact that the child she’s been carrying actually belongs to Henry.

On May 19, Vienna goes to Katie to try to make amends for her deceit... but Katie wants none of it, running away, which leads to Vienna chasing her, falling and having the miscarriage.

“We always hurt the ones we love most, so things get pretty ugly between Henry and Katie - he spews a lot of bile at her,” Dawson said. “He’s forgiven her for a lot over the nine years of their friendship, but he can’t forgive this.”
