Ahead on Big Love: Aaron Paul and More!

With the new season of Big Love premiering this Sunday, fans have a simple question:

What can they expect?

Having seen the first two episodes of the HBO hit, we can report that it hits the ground running. Viewers can look forward to the following developments early on:

  • Nicki withholds a vital detail about the Prophet;
  • Margene's new business is raking in dough;
  • Bill and Barb lie to the church to facilitate his run for office.

Moreover, while Amanda Seyfried is leaving the show after this season, her character (Sarah) and Scott fight through all their obstacles and find happiness together.

Be sure to keep an eye on Aaron Paul as Scott (pictured), as the Breaking Bad star steals each scene he's in.

First Look: Benjamin Koldyke on Big Love

As previously reported, Big Love has major plans in the works for Alby on season four.

Those developments will largely center around Dale Tomasson, the character's new love interest on the HBO hit. Played by Benjamin Koldyke, Dale is a closeted Mormon who is part of the hierarchy for the United Effort Brotherhood.

HBO has released the first two photos of Koldyke in this role, as it's unclear just how he'll impact the life of Big Love's villainous Alby.

But this much is certain: when season four debuts on January 10, we'll be tuned in to find out!

Big Love Plans Boyfriend, "Great Story" for Alby

Hold on tight, Big Love fans: co-creator Marc V. Olsen says there's a "great story" ahead for the show's closeted gay villain, Alby.

Played by Matt Ross, the character will woo his first boyfriend on season four... along with a lot of controversy, of course.

Alby is “being groomed for an incredible season,” co-creator/executive producer Will Scheffer told Entertainment Weekly while Olsen added:

“Alby’s boyfriend, Dale (Benjamin Koldyke), is appointed head of the UEB - a trustee. They stumble into a relationship, and this guy is [just like Alby] struggling with his urges. He’s been going to [reparative therapy] for several years... unsuccessfully. Alby is going as well.”

Olsen continued, teasing the season ahead:

“There’s a provocative nature to what we’re doing. It’s more than just the Mormon culture. We’re highlighting certain aspects of the church’s relationship with its gay members that I think, as the story unfolds, is going to cause no [small] amount of controversy.”

Expect this storyline to create a great deal of acclaim for Alby’s portrayer, Ross.

Concluded Olsen: “We gave him a great story, and he’s delivering with the kind of performance that is astonishing.”

Big Love returns to HBO on January 10.

Big Love Season Four Poster, Storyline Revealed

The official fourth season poster for Big Love serves as a warning to fans of this series and the wives of Bill Henrickson.

Based on a few spoilers and quotes, it sounds as if the promotional photo below may be the final time you see the Henricksons looking this tight-knit as a family.

When season four premieres on January 10 on HBO, Bill will be running for state senator. Said producer Marc V. Olsen of the storyline:

“His goal, if he’s elected, is to put himself and his family out there as public polygamists. He can’t be impeached for that. Polygamy is technically a misdemeanor in Utah, [and a misdemeanor is not] an impeachable offense.”

Still, the Henrickson wives will be split as a result of this political agenda. As a result, the entire clan is threatened.

“Bill’s decision renders major friction within the family,” Olsen said. “What wives will or will not do to promote that agenda or stop that agenda dead in its tracks [is] a big piece of the season.”

Ben and Margene Relationship to Take Next Step on Big Love

Last week, Ginnifer Goodwin said that her character on Big Love "does something next season that in my own esteem is so horrible that I had trouble even performing it."

Talk about a major teaser!

Margene Heffman Photo

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series co-creator Mark V. Olsen may have at least shed some light on what the actress is referencing above. Referring to Ben and Margene, he said:

“We have flirted for three years with [that] relationship. And this year we finally decided to pay it off.”

Considering the events that ended last season, during which Ben smooched his step-mother, there's only one way in which the show can pay this off. We're giddy just thinking about that scandal.

Big Love returns to HBO on January 10.

Big Love Planning Wedding, "Horrible" Storyline for Margene

Ho-hum. Another season of Big Love, another wedding to plan for.

Sources have confirmed that Amanda Seyfried's Sarah will be getting married when the HBO hit returns; the series will also introduce a new set of in-laws for her in Scott’s conservative parents, Mr. and Mrs. Quitman.

However, Ginnifer Goodwin (Margene) wouldn't reveal a word about this storyline when pressed by TV Guide Magazine.

As for the future of her character?

"Margene does something next season that in my own esteem is so horrible that I had trouble even performing it," the actress said.

Wow. We didn't think it was possible to look forward any more to Big Love's return on January 10 than we already do!

The Most Disturbing Big Love Spoiler Yet

When Big Love returns in early 2010, it will do so with one of its most disturbing storylines yet:

Viewers will learn that the parents of Wanda and J.J. were brother and sister.  We'll give you a moment to let that sink in...

Wanda and J.J.

Also, prepare to meet Roman’s tiny nephew, Toby, and his six wives; as well as Bill’s almost-fourth wife Ana and her Serbian fiancé Ivan.

Big Love to Introduce New Characters

The new season of Big Love kicks off in January.

As previously announced, Zeljko Ivanek will return to the HBO hit as J.J. - and he won't come back alone.

Bill and His Ladies

Viewers will meet the character's parents early in season four, as we can't wait to see the adults responsible for J.J. and Wanda. As for others to be introduced in early 2010?

Look for Ana's fiancé from Serbia to make an appearance.

Ivanek has been a busy man. He appeared on Heroes last season, earned an Emmy for his work on Damages and will likely reprise his role as the Magister on True Blood at some point.

Coming to Big Love: Sons, Suitors and More!

Roman Grant is dead.

As a result, his Big Love family will be branching out on season four of hit drama, which premiers in January 2010.

Look for Selma, Grant's sister, to be sprung from jail and end up in Mexico. Later in the season, viewers will discover she has two grown sons, as actress Sandy Martin joked: "my eggs are flowing!"

Big Love Family

Also, Roman’s widow has seen her power in the clan vanish - but Adaleen will begin to welcome suitors as the season progresses.

“The widow wives of a deceased prophet are like jewels in a crown that many want to obtain,” executive producer Mark V. Olsen told the publication.

As for Roman’s gay son, Alby? He’s got a new lover, Dale, but don't expect this relationship to have a happy ending.

“We want them to be a sexy couple you’ll root for,” said Olsen, “but it will not end well.”
