Confirmed: Bones to Flash Way Back

Bones is off the air, set to return on November 5, barring a seventh game of the World Series.

But the show's producer at least has cool news to keep fans excited for later this season: on its 100th episode, as previously hinted at it, the series will flash back to the first-ever meeting between Booth and Brennan.

“We’ll be there for the first time those two personalities clashed,” executive producer Stephen Nathan told Entertainment Weekly. “Events will conspire to make them come out of the case hating each other and vowing that they will never work together again.”

Amish Country

What else will be included during this episode?

“We’ll also see the introduction of Angela and the genesis of her friendship with Brennan,” Nathan said. “And we’ll try and work in a Smurf reference, of course. They certainly have been absent from season 5 so far.”

Sounds awesome. Let's hope the Yankees sweep the Phillies and Bones returns as soon as possible!

Back to the 1930s for Bones

Bones won't air a new episode until November 5.

But fans of the Fox hit now have something interesting to contemplate during that time, as producer Stephen Nathan told TV Guide Magazine that the show might head back to the 1930s for an upcoming installment.

“A lot of shows have done those 40’s film noir episodes,” Nathan said. “But what we’re thinking of doing is going back a few more years to a 1930’s era homage to Depression-Era comedies like (1936's) My Man Godfrey or (1934's) The Thin Man, where they’re living the high life in the midst of the Depression - drinking and having a good time while solving murders.”

The episode would be filmed entirely in black and white, but that isn't the strangest part of the idea: would Temperance Brennan drink and have a good time?

That we'd love to see!

Bones Spoiler: A "Kennedy-Like" Storyline to Come

Unafraid to tackle controversial topics, Bones will soon crossover into Presidential assassination territory.

TV Guide Magazine reports the series hired JFK conspiracy expert Bob Harris to write an episode about the exhumation of a president’s corpse.

According to executive producer Stephen Nathan, the plot is based on “the government sweeping in and asking for a favor, but then the bones disappear.”

Museum Murder

Might Bones incur the wrath of the Kennedy family?

“We’re seeing how much we can get away with,” Nathan said. “For now, we’re not using his actual name, so it’s Kennedy-like.”

The episode will air in January. Tonight, meanwhile, Booth and Brennan investigate strange happenings at a museum.

Come back to TV Fanatic soon after the installment airs in order to check out the latest Bones quotes and music from it.

Bones: Back to the Beginning for 100th Episode?

Bones kicks off its fifth season on September 17 with an episode titles "Harbingers in the Fountain."

Browse through a slew of season premiere photos, including a couple of guest star Cyndi Lauper, now.

When speaking to Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, however, creator Hart Hanson was focused on another episode, one that airs later this year: Number 100.

Promo for Bones

Hanson told the columnist he's considering flashing back to Booth and Brennan’s first ever assignment to mark the occasion.

“We alluded in the pilot that the first time they worked together — the time before the pilot — that it went very badly. They had a terrible time. So it would be really fun to do a flashback episode.”

This is just one of many ideas being tossed around, however, so don't get too excited yet, Bones, fans.

Bones Season Five Scoop: Kissing to Come!

As show spoilers have already alluded to, there is a plan for Brennan and Booth. These two will finally get together at some point, for real this time.

Until that episode arrives, though, viewers will need to settle for this nugget from star Emily Deschanel, as she discussed season five with E! News:

"There absolutely will be more kissing [between Bones and Booth]."

As for the September 17 Bones premiere, which will take place a few weeks after Booth's brain surgery, Deschanel said it will affect her loyal partner:

"Booth's character is kind of confused about our relationship when he wakes up, and that adds a whole new element to our relationship."

At a Crime Scene

As for what else to expect this season, other stars shared the following:

  • Booth will still be all about Brennan, sayd David Boreanaz: "I don't care about the crime solving. I just care about my relationship with her. The other stuff just happens. I don't care about the bones and the crime. I care about what they're doing over the crime scene."
  • The separation between Angela and Hodgins may come to an end, according to Michaela Conlin: "I hear [Jack and Angela] are going to be reconciling soon! Hopefully they're on their way to making it back toward each other."

Bones Season Premiere Scoop: The Return of Brennan

When Bones returns with new episodes next month, the action will pick up a few weeks after the events in May's season finale.

Series creator Hart Hanson is on record as saying that Brennan will have just returned from a trip to Guatemala, which begs the question:

Did she really leave Booth at such a critical time, following his brain surgery? No, Hanson emphasizes.

Bones Team

"We've set up a few times that when she's really miserable she goes down there [Guatemala] and identifies victims of the genocide down there and there are so many still remaining unidentified," he said. "So when she's really miserable she just throws herself into that. I promise you, Brennan did not abandon Booth. Watch the season opener; you'll see."

We will. It airs on September 17.

Bones Season Five Premiere Promo: Booth Loves Brennan!

A Catfight Between Angela and Brennan: Coming to Bones!

Get your popcorn ready, fellas. It sounds like a catfight is coming to Bones!

As previously reported, Angela will break her vow of celibacy early in the new season. We can confirm that the sexual partner in question will be male, and that he may somehow come between Angela and Brennan.

Angela and Brennan

According to Bones producer Hart Hanson, during the same episode in which Angela gets her swerve on, she and Brennan will have it out.

"Their friendship is deeply challenged. It’ll be the first time that Brennan realizes that being totally rational about something isn’t necessarily being a good friend," the producer told Entertainment Weekly. "And every time she has done that in the past, Angela has come around and excused Brennan’s behavior. This time, if they’re friendship is to be maintained, Brennan has to take a step toward the irrational.”

New episodes of Bones kick off on September 17.

Quotes

Brennan: Being overweight wasn't always stigmatized. During the Middle Ages in Italy, the wealthy and influential members of society were called popolo grosso, meaning literally, fat people.
Hank: Is she always like this?
Booth: Well, Pops, she always has the facts, Pops. Always.
