The second episode of Californication's third season is titled "The Land of Rape and Honey."

Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick appears on the installment. He plays Balt, a student that's really into vampires. We've already posted a few shots of the actor in that role; but, below, we've published a few new episode still from "The Land of Rape and Honey."

When Californication returns for a third season, Hank is teaching at a university.

He's also living without Karen, a fact that has a major, negative effect on daughter Becca. Meanwhile, Peter Gallagher comes aboard the series in the role of Stacy Koons.

In other words: it's gonna be a fun ride! And we haven't even gotten to the Ed Westwick guest-starring turn, which takes place on the season's second episode.

Peter Gallagher looked to be having a blast as Sandy Cohen on The OC. He was likely the most consistently entertaining aspect of that former Fox show.

But the actor says no role has ever been more enjoyable than the one he just finished shooting, as Stacy Koons on season three of Californication.

"I'm playing... the dean of the university where Hank Moody works. Embeth Davidtz plays my wife, Felicia Koons. I'm fairly antagonistic with Mr. Duchovny. I had the time of my life - about as much fun as any actor is allowed to have," Gallagher told E! News.

Other guest stars on Californication this fall include:

• Kathleen Turner as an evil agent;
• Rick Springfield as a drug-addicted star;
• Diane Farr as Hank's T.A.;
• Eva Amurri as a stripper/student;
• Ed Westwick as a student.

In other words: look out parents, impressionable female students and faculty members.

While previous reports indicated that rocker/actor Rick Springfield would be playing himself on the third season of Californication, it now seems likely that he'll just be playing a version of himself.

Unless, that is, the real Rick Springfield is so debauched, as TV Guide explains, "he makes Hank look like a Jonas brother."

According to that publication, the extreme, fictionalized Springfield on the show is involved in scenes that involve butter, candle wax and other items that would even make Madonna blush.

At last night's presentation of Californication, during the Los Angeles Times' Envelope Emmy screening series in Hollywood, the show's cast revealed a couple of secrets.

For example, courtesy of E! News:

• Charlie (Evan Handler) was originally a gay character. Said show runner Tom Kapinos: "I remember the day I told Evan we weren't going in that direction, and he seemed the happiest I've ever seen him.
• In rehearsals for the pilot, British actress Natascha McElhone, who portrays Hank's love interest Karen, attempted to convince the writers that her character should be French: "They said, 'We could try it.' For two days, they sat there and suffered me playing Karen as a Frenchwoman," she said.

So, what's in store for the next season of Californication?

Kapinos would only reveal: "I'll just say that Hank takes on the world of academia."

You gotta admire the casting director for Californication.

He/she is unafraid to make it clear what the show is looking for. Yesterday, we published a story about the Showtime series seeking a number of unique guest stars.

Now, it's getting even more specific (and sexy!). According to a new casting notice, Californication is seeking actresses to play characters named Betty and Veronica for episode eight of the new season. Their descriptions?

• 20’s-30’s, two smokin’ hot stripper gal pals who are always down for a good time. Please submit all ethnicities. Nudity and simulated sex required.

How will Hank Moody interact with Betty and Veronica? We're anxious to find out!

The third season of Californication airs this fall.

While David Duchovny returns, of course, in the main role of Hank Moody, the show is seeking to fill a few unique roles. According to casting notes, the Showtime hit is seeking actors to play:

• A Hollywood legend;
• A wheelchair pimp;
• A midget stripper;
• A shady professor/poet. 

Hank Moody will return to the air this fall, and he'll reportedly be joined by a number of eccentric characters.

Rick Springfield isn't the only big name lined up to guest star on the third season of Californication.

Look for Gossip Girl actor Ed Westwick to portray a student fascinated by vampire literature in the show's second episode.

In the comedy's third season season, which premieres in the fall and finds Hank as a university professor, look for the following stars to appear:

• Eva Amurri, the daughter of Susan Sarandon, will play one o Hank's students.
• Embeth Davidtz (In Treatment) will play the wife of the dean of students, who will be played by Peter Gallagher.
• Kathleen Turner and Diane Farr also will guest star.

Rick Springfield is set to guest star on Californication in a role he ought to know very well:

Himself.

According to Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly, the singer/actor will appear on four episodes of Californication's third season, which airs this fall.

Earlier this month, producers of the Showtime series put out a casting call looking for "an actor who experienced huge fame in the 80's to play themselves as a now down-on his-luck-ex-celebrity waiting tables to get by."

Enter Springfield, previously seen on General Hospital. He'll reportedly take part in a bit of "tasteful nudity" and "simulated sex" on the show.

Millions of soap opera followers and "Jessie's Girl" listeners just screamed their lungs out.
