And, with that, Castle and Beckett meet at a crime scene on Monday's episode, "Kill the Messenger."
In the clip below, Beckett tries to act like a cop, but gets shown up, as he proceeds to mock the ease of the upcoming investigation. We have a feeling it won't go as smoothly as he thinks, however.

Castle is coming back for another season.
When we last saw Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), he had been digging - a tad too deeply - into the life of Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).
Now, in the video below, Katic tells fans about the personal turn her character will take this season, while also previewing what's ahead for her family and her private life.

The first spoiler we've come across for season two of Castle is not exactly a shocker:
According to TV Guide, the opening scene of this show's sophomore season will find Kate Beckett a tad perturbed at Castle's celebrity, as the author celebrates the release of his new book with a story in Cosmopolitan... along two women dressed in skimpy police uniforms.
Might Beckett be growing tired of being seen as a potential love interest for her occasional partner, as opposed to a seasoned professional? If so, it's about time!
As Castle wraps up its first season tonight, fans are wondering about this show's status on ABC's fall schedule.
While we won't have an answer until the network's upfronts presentation on May 19, here's what star Nathan Fillion said on Friday about the prospects of season two.
"The reaction we've been getting from the network is super positive, and the reaction from the audience has been positive. That's the most important thing."
Regarding tonight's finale, "A Death in the Family," Fillion told Zap2It that it involves the murder of a plastic surgeon, along with Castle digging around Beckett's past a bit too aggressively (and Alexis, pictured above with her father, attending the prom).
"This is an episode where we see just how clever or appropriate Castle can be when it comes to where you draw the line, and how far you go before it's too far," the actor said.
Fans of Castle enjoyed the recent appearance of Rick's ex-wife on the show.
But they shouldn't count on another Helen sighting any time soon.
TV Guide reports that actress Darby Stanchfield - who has appeared on other hit shows such as Mad Men, The Mentalist and Private Practice, isn't signed on to return any time soon. She may be back at some point, however, assuming Castle earns a second season pick-up.
Rest easy, Castle: Helen won't be in your life for awhile.
It's taken House and Cuddy five years to have sex.
By the time Bones and Brennan do the deed, it will have been four seasons.
Therefore, anyone hoping that Kate and Castle will soon jump into bed on Castle will need to keep waiting.
"We bring in another guy, an ex of mine, and he stirs up the pot a bit," Stana Katic told E! this week, shooting down talk of her character getting it on with Castle. "We also discover a little bit more about her past, because Castle starts digging into it. He actually starts researching some of the files and finds out some interesting stuff on what happened to my mother."
Meanwhile, when it comes to the finale, Stana won't reveal much - but does say it ends with a cliffhanger. Let's now hope ABC actually picks up Castle for a second season.
Castle premieres on Monday.
The ABC marketing department is banking on this light-hearted Nathan Fillion drama to garner major ratings, as every other commercial on that network has highlighted the chemistry of Fillion's Richard Castle and Stana Katic's Kate Beckett.
Will all the promotions pay off? We'll find out in a few days.
