Dana Delany Ponders Future on Desperate Housewives

Warning: Those who wish to remain in the dark about all Desperate Housewives spoilers should stop reading now. Okay? All set? Let's go on...

As previously reported, Dana Delany might be exiting the series in order to star in Body of Evidence, a new drama on ABC.

However, even if the Emmy Award winner does agree to switch shows, there’s no guarantee the pilot will actually get picked up.

“You never know with pilots,” Delany tells Entertainment Weekly in a new interview. “Many of them never get off the ground, so all this talk could be rendered [pointless]. But I am realistically hopeful. I love the [Evidence] character, so I hope it all works out.”

Sounds like she has one foot out the Desperate door, doesn't it?

A Mistake?

Ideally, however, Delany says she wouldn't leave the long-running hit for good.

“[Series creator] Marc Cherry [promised] he would not kill me off and told me I was always welcome to come back to the Lane,” she says. “I would love for Katherine to pop into town and say hi to the gang every once in awhile.”

Might Katherine and Robin actually stick as a couple, prompting them to leave town together? It's not a bad scenario, Delany admits.

“This might actually be her thing. It may make her happier than she has ever been. She does not have the best track record with men to begin with.”

The Russian is Coming! Desperate Housewives Spoilers, Scoops

But enough about the past.

What can fans expect from the show going forward? Korbi Ghosh of Zap2It recently answered a few questions on that topic and we've summarized the spoilers below:

  • Preston will return from Europe with Russian fiancee that's 10 years older than him. Lynette won't exactly be psyched when he asks for her grandmother's engagement ring.
  • Ana will leave for NYC after Gabrielle sets her up with an apartment there, in order go get here away from Danny. But will he follow?
  • Angie has been keeping a major secret from her son. We'll learn about it shortly.

Julie Benz Speaks on Extended Desperate Housewives Run

Fans of Dexter were sad to bid farewell to Julie Benz: her character of Rita was killed off the Showtime drama to conclude season four.

But that show's loss in ABC's gain, as Benz has made an immediate impression on Desperate Housewives as a lesbian stripper named Robin.

Originally signed for just three episodes, the actress has seen her run on this series extended indefinitely. She'll also soon see herself making out with Katherine, a development confirmed by previous Desperate Housewives spoilers.

"There's some very sexy stuff that goes on," Benz told TV Guide. "Robin meets everyone on Wisteria Lane and her arrival causes trouble on the lane in an indirect manner."

Cozy Characters

As is often the case when female characters kiss, Desperate Housewives must deal with questions about this being nothing more than a ratings stunt. What makes this storyline unique from make-out sessions on other shows?

"It is different because there is a relationship developing out of it," Benz told Afterellen.com, going into detail about Robin's connection to Dana Delany's character:

"Katherine has had quite a history of dating men that haven't turned out to be very good for her. I think the question you have to ask yourself in real life is, if you connect with somebody, why let gender, religion or race get in the way. I think that's the struggle, the challenge that she has."

Desperate Housewives returns with a new episode on February 21.

Beau Mirchoff Speaks on Future of the Bolens on Desperate Housewives

It's been a tough few weeks for Beau Mirchoff on Desperate Housewives.

His character of Danny Bolen overdosed, was admitted to the hospital and then started to to refer to himself as "Tyler."

While fans debate the future of the show, including which major character dies, Mirchoff spoke to TV Guide about his television family and how long the Bolens will stick around Wisteria Lane...

On his character: "He's been on the run his whole life, he's never really had a solid friendship or long-lasting relationship. Then he gets rejected again. This is his rock bottom; everything is spiraling down for him."

Danny Bolen

On Danny vs. his dad: "There's a little more to it [than his affair with Julie]. There's an episode coming up that puts a lot of information out there for the audience about our family."

On a future storyline: "There's talk of a love triangle. I just hope he breaks out of his doom and gloom."

Marc Cherry: Fans Demanded Desperate Housewives Wedding

Desperate Housewives spoiler alert!

For those that have yet to watch last night's season six premiere, stop reading now... unless you wish to learn who Mike chose to marry.

Following a summer of questions, the series immediately answered one of its biggest fifth season cliffhangers this week: Mike married Susan. But this was actually not creator Marc Cherry's first plan.

“I originally was going to have Mike marry Katherine, but as I went out into the world on vacation and just started talking to people they were so determined that Mike and Susan should get together; they were so insistent on it," he told Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, adding:

"So I started to think, ‘What if I went that way.’ And it occurred to me that it might be a more effective way to go as opposed to frustrating the fans for another year by keeping Mike and Susan apart. The fans demanded it in a voice so loud I kind of was scared to go against them.”

As for how this decision will affect the show, Cherry talked about both Katherine and the newly weds.

Jesse Metcalfe Previews "New Love Triangle" on Desperate Housewives

Attention, Desperate Housewives viewers:

Jesse Metcalfe is coming back to the show this season, and his character will pick up right where he left off.

Despite having been gone from Wisteria Lane for close to a decade (according to show time), Metcalfe told TV Guide Magazine that fans can expect more flirting between his character of John Rowland and Gabrielle Solis.

“I think there’s always a possibility for that to transpire. It’s a flame that has been dying hard,” he said.

During his two-episode stint - which begins in mid-October - Gabby won't be the only member of the Solid household with whom John gets involved.

“There’s a new little love triangle brewing, and Gabby’s niece is involved in said love triangle,” he said, adding: “It’s not as lecherous as it might sound. You just have to tune in and see where it goes.”

Not to worry, Jesse: we will.

Maiara Walsh Dishes on Desperate Housewives Character

Earlier today, Desperate Housewives fans met the Bolens. Led by Drea de Matteo, this family moves into Wisertia Lane on the sixth season premiere.

Now, viewers can get to know Maiara Walsh, the gorgeous young actress that has been named a new series regular. She plays Carlos and Gaby's troubled niece, Ana Solis.

"She is a bit of a wild child. She and Gaby butt heads and will continue to butt heads," Walsh said of her character in a new interview. "She's been bounced around from relative to relative. Her mom is in prison and she hasn't seen her dad since she was 3, so she definitely has some issues. She's decided that she is going to make things happen for herself and she'll do whatever it takes to get what she wants. I think one of the reasons she and Gaby butt heads so much is because they're so similar."

As for how Ana fits into season six storylines, the actress said:

"Ana is going to continue testing Gaby's patience by acting up and misbehaving. In the first episode she has this really funny scene with Gaby in a club and she does something she's never done before... I can't tell you what it is, but it's really funny. She's a young girl who likes boys, so I think there will be some love mysteries and triangles."

New episodes of Desperate Housewives start back up on September 27.

Dana Delany Dishes on New Desperate Housewife

When recently asked about her new Desperate Housewives role, Drea de Matteo didn't have a lot to say.

But co-star Dana Delany (Katherine) spilled a bit about the character of Angie Bolen during an interview with E! News. The actress said of de Matteo's new persona:

"She's such a mystery; we don't really know who she is yet. She started out very friendly and is starting to show her strength."

Andrea Bowen Speaks on Return to Desperate Housewives

As Desperate Housewives know, Andrea Bowen is coming back to Wisteria Lane this fall.

The 19-year old actress, who portrays Susan's daughter Julie, spoke to TV Guide Magazine about her exciting return to the show that made her famous. Here are a few excerpts from the interview:

On character changes: "I’m not the same character who left. I come back a different person. Julie has gone through a lot and comes back... different. She’s not the same girl everyone watched grow up."

On Julie's upcoming storyline: "I have a lot of interaction with [Drea de Matteo's] Italian family.

On Julie's older boyfriend: "I don’t believe he’s back. She’s alone. I come back with a story line completely independent of that. And I think it’s independent of Susan. She’ll still have a prominent relationship with her mother, but this year I get a lot of my own storylines that are just strictly for Julie."
