FlashForward Casting News

FlashForward Star Given Lead Role ... in NBC Pilot

While its fate is still TBA, it can't be good news for ABC's FlashForward that Christine Woods (Janis) has been cast as the female lead in the NBC comedy pilot Perfect Couples.

This makes the third member of the FlashForward cast to land a role on a new pilot for the upcoming season. Ryan Wynott (Dylan) has joined The Cape, a drama pilot for NBC.

Zachary Knighton, meanwhile, will be the male lead in ABC's Happy Endings.

So does all this mean FlashForward is doomed? Maybe not officially, but you have to think so, right? The troubling signs for the freshman drama are certainly adding up.

A FlashForward source says the actors' new roles are "in second position until there's official word of a pickup." Good answer, but that they're seeking roles at all is telling.

ABC has not yet renewed the sci-fi series for a second season, and no announcement is expected to be made until May 18, at which point such decisions have to be made.

Perhaps the network is taking a wait-and-see attitude after a lackluster first half? Maybe it's as good as dead but they won't say it yet for fear people will stop watching?

Our suggestion: Kill off Joseph Fiennes' character and make Woods and John Cho the main characters. That would make for unexpected drama ... and fewer bad accents.

James Callis to Play "Big Role" on FlashForward

As Gaius Baltar on Battlestar Galactica, James Callis was an intriguing, mysterious figure.

It now sounds like he'll play a similar role on FlashForward.

Callis has landed a major role on the ABC drama. He'll come aboard for several episodes at this spring, Jessika Borsiczky told SCI FI Wire in a new interview.

"When I watched Battlestar, every time he wasn't in a scene I couldn't wait for him to come back," the producer said. "And I really wanted to have an opportunity to work with him. Since the show was ordered, we've been excited to work with him. And I so just cast him in our show. He's playing a big role in some of the final episodes this season, and it was for that very reason."

Borsiczky describes Callis' character as "really exciting" and "unusual." He'll be involved in "some of Olivia's journey."

FlashForward returns on March 18. Two days prior, ABC will air a clip show and try to catch viewers up on what's happened on the series so far.

After that, the network will air 13 consecutive installments of the drama. You can review the developments that have aired so far in our Flashforward episode guide section.

Ravi Kapoor to Guest Star on FlashForward

Ravi Kapoor has landed a role on FlashForward.

As first reported by TV Guide, the actor will portray Kapoor Malik, a man with a connection to Brian F. O'Bryne's Aaron Stark. They come into contact with one another when the latter travels to Afghanistan later this season.

Kapoor played Dr. Mahesh "Bug" throughout Crossing Jordan's six-season run. More recently he's guest-starred on 24, Fringe and Heroes and he's signed on for one episode of FlashForward.

The drama returns on March 18.

Paula Newsome Cast on FlashForward

Now that it's been picked up for a full season, expect FlashForward to announce a few casting notes for early 2010 and beyond.

First case in point: Paula Newsome will come aboard the show early next year. The actress - who has guest-starred on Bones, NCIS and played a prominent role on the short-lived Women's Murder Club - will play a doctor on the drama.

No word yet on how this character wil tie in to the rest of the story, but Olivia does work at a hospital, so anything is possible.

FlashForward Casting Calls: A Killer and a Priest

Over the next couple weeks, FlashForward will be casting for a pair of contrasting character.

For the season's sixth episode, viewers should expect a professional killer to appear. Here's how the casting call for this character reads:

[TOUGH GUY] - a fairly big guy, professional killer. 5' 10". No lines in this episodes but role will recur with lines in future.

Conversely, a priest will be featured on episode 10. This related casting note:

[PRIEST] Open Age, Open Ethnicity, Male or Female. Presides over a funeral service. Co-Star.

Michael Ealy to Recur on FlashForward

Michael Ealy has landed a recurring role on FlashForward.

The actor - most recently seen in an episode of Hawthorne, but best known as the lead in the underrated Showtime mini-series Sleeper Cell - will debut on the drama's 10th episode.

Not a lot is known about his role, except for this: his character will cause problems for Joseph Fiennes' Mark Benford.

FlashForward will reunite Ealy with Sonya Walger, who played his love interest on Sleeper Cell.

FlashForward: Casting for Gary, Planning Ahead

No major FlashForward spoilers, but a bit of news regarding this wildly anticipated new show:

First, the series is casting for a recurring character. He'll first appear in episode eight and appears to be a bodyguard of some kind. How do we know? The official ABC casting notice says this is a non-speaking role...

[GARY] 40s, Caucasian. Hard, aggressive. A middle-management guy, he's committed to doing whatever the higher-ups need, even if it takes him into morally questionable territory. Please note in current script this is a Non-Speaking role, but with the strong possibility of returning in future episodes.

Secondly, producer David S. Goyer spoke about the show recently.

In the first part of his interview, he explains the planned timeline of events; in part two, he dishes on his inspiration for making FlashForward into a TV show.

FlashForward spoiler alert:Tracy was thought to have been killed in Iraq a couple years ago, but Aaron will see visions of his supposedly late daughter when he flashes forward on the series premiere.

Keir O'Donnell Joins Cast of FlashForward

The latest casting addition for FlashForward is almost as mysterious as the show itself.

Keir O'Donnell - best known for his role in Wedding Crashers - has joined the cast of the upcoming ABC drama. No word yet on what recurring character he'll play, but the actor joins an ensemble that includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho and Sonya Walger.

O'Donnell also appeared in Paul Blart: Mall Cop and will have a part in The Runaways, the Joan Jett biopic starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.

Dominic Monaghan Officially Joins FlashForward, Reveals Character Detais

Dominic Monaghan was confirmed as a series regular on FlashForward earlier this month.

But, at Comic-Con last week, more details were revealed about the role the former Lost star would play on the new series.

Monaghan will portray Simon, "a game-changer character who f--ks up a lot of things," as described by producer/writer David Goyer.

As for why he signed on for FlashForward, the actor said:

"I want to play someone who's the opposite of [Lost's] Charlie. Simon is a man - this guy's not scared, he's capable, he's unflappable, he's smart, he's scary, he's everything that Charlie wasn't... it's important to me to continue to show an audience that I can play more."

Monaghan added that Simon is a "little hard to predict. He's a snappy dresser, capable and cocky."

FlashForward, one of the fall's most promising new shows, debuts on September 24.
