Mad Men Season Three Premiere to Focus on British Takeover

The British aren't just coming to season three of Mad Men - they've already arrived!

While those behind this hit AMC drama are often mum about spoilers, we can reveal that the August 16 season premiere will focus on the British takeover of Sterling-Cooper.

As a result of this development, expect major restructuring to take place, as two fan favorites will be in contention for the same job. Who will they be?

For our best guess, check out the picture below:

Meanwhile, sources at E! News have a warning for Salvatore Romano: your marriage isn't fooling Don Draper. He knows everyone's secrets.

On Mad Men, Bryan Batt portrays Salvatore Romano, Sterling Cooper's closeted art director.

In a new interview with TV Guide, the actor previews season three of the critically-beloved series. It premieres on August 16 and Batt assures viewers that they won't be disappointed by the opening episode.

"I haven't seen [the finished product] yet, but just based on the script, it's really an exciting first episode," Batt said. "It doesn't lull you back into the period. Really, a lot happens, and I just can't wait to see what people think because it's one of the best. It's interesting, it's smart... It's just more great Mad Men coming your way."

As for the third season as a whole, Batt said:

"We all live in that world where everyone's got a secret. And this year the audience finds out a little more about everybody. It's typical Mad Men - what you expect to happen doesn't happen. But what does is pretty damn exciting."

Jon Slattery on Mad Men Season Three: Be Very Afraid!

While the cast and crew of Mad Men are sworn to secrecy regarding upcoming storylines, E! News tracked down Jon Slattery and managed to get a few words out of the man that plays Roger Sterling.

When asked if we should be afraid for our NYC friends - because a British firm bought out Sterling Cooper at the end of last season - Slattery replied: "You should be very afraid. I am."

Is there anything else Slattery say about season three?

"It will be better than ever."

Meanwhile, we've actually gotten our hands on a rare set photo from Mad Men. It reveals Don and Betty, as the former appears to be holding a baby. Guess the third season doesn't jump ahead that far into the future...

Coming to AMC: Extended Episodes of Mad Men

Sorry, fans. This Mad Men spoiler relates to the show's programming, not it's season three storylines.

When the show return to AMC on August 16 at 10 p.m., it will run a few minutes beyond an hour for each new installment. Why the extended running time?

To accommodate two more minutes of advertising, as Variety reports the decision came after AMC said it needed to sell more commercials during the show's third season, while creator Matthew Weiner insisted on preserving every second of his show.

Fortunately, the network has considered DVR users: AMC worked it out with its cable operator affiliates to ensure DVRs set to record Mad Men would recognize the unique ending time and not cut off at 11 p.m.

Don't turn off Mad Men at 11 p.m. every night. You may miss a few extra minutes of Joan Holloway.

Mad Men Season Three Spoilers, Casting Notes

Mad Men, which returns later this year for its third season, is notoriously tight-lipped about its storylines.

Therefore, fans eat up any modicum of spoilers they can find. With that in mind, here's what we've learned about the season's fifth episode: it will be titled "The Fog," and the following casting notices have gone out to actors for it:

  • A prison guard that his out of his element when away from his jail;
  • A pair of advertising clients that hail from the Midwest;
  • A no-nonsense nurse;
  • A Grace Kelly-lookalike that is a suburban mom.

What impact will these roles have on season three storylines? We have no idea. But we'll be tuning in to Mad Men to find out!

Mad Men: Season Three Promo

The third season premiere of Mad Men premiere on AMC in August.

With the show notoriously mum about spoilers, all we can report is that series creator Matthew Weiner has simply said the season will focus on chracters adjusting to change. (Such as a new baby for Betty and Don Draper.)

Here's a promo for season three of Mad Men:

Mad Men Season Three Baby News

Season two of Mad Men ended with Betty informed her husband that she was pregnant.

Now, as the third season is set to premiere on August 16, creator Matthew Weiner wants to be clear: another Draper is on the way.

"[The child] belongs to Don," Weiner told Michael Ausiello. "For some reason there was some confusion about it because she was unfaithful, but there shouldn't be. It is Don's baby."

As previously announced, the third season will jump ahead a few years in time.

Jared Harris Cast on Mad Men

The third season premiere of Mad Men is set for August 16.

When the award-winning drama returns, look for Jared Harris to join the cast in a significant recurring role. In a 10-episode arc, the actor will portray Lane Pryce, Sterling Cooper's financial officer.

Harris recently appeared in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and starred in a few episodes of Fringe as the character David Robert Jones.

Mad Men Season Three Spoilers: Premiere Date, Time Jump

The third season of Mad Men will premiere in early August.

We'll pass along the exact date when AMC announces it.

Betty Draper Picture

Betty Draper ended season two with a baby on the way. Where will this story pick up in season three?

As for what fans can expect from season three, words of advice: don't expect tidy resolutions to the second season finale's cliff-hangers - i.e. Peggy's admission to Pete and Betty's pregnancy - because the show is likely to jump ahead in time again.

Hmmm... what 1960s historical events might serve as a metaphorical backdrop (as the Cuban Missile Crisis did in Season 2)? Perhaps a certain Presidential assassination.

Brief Mad Men Spoilers for Season Three

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner spoke with television columnist Alan Sepinwall about his plans for season three of the critically-acclaimed drama.

He was asked whether he might do another 15-month jump, as he did between seasons one and two, that would take Mad Men characters past the JFK assassination. Here's what Weiner had to say about the prospect:

I can say one thing in advance: the Kennedy assassination is very well-trod territory, and I just don't see myself adding new to that. But I might start the day before it. Or I might do what I did with a lot of historical events, which is to put it in the background and show people's personal events overtaking it.
