One Life To Live Writer Speaks on Kish Storylines

It's the question on the minds of many One Life to Live fans: what stories are on the horizon for this pair?

In an interview with AfterElton.com, head writer Ron Carlivati addressed this question head on. He said:

The story that's going on with them... is that from his one night stand with Stacy there's a pregnant girl out there that's carrying his baby. As their relationship moves forward, you know that complication is lying out there.

Obviously I'm farther ahead with the writing, but what you're seeing now is just playing out the romance and the love story without the obstacles at the moment. Down the road, the baby story will become a big part of their relationship.

Fish and Kyle

Kish: To Get Married on One Life to Live?

Congratulations are about to be in order for Kyle and Fish on One Life to Live.

The couple known as "Kish" will tie the knot on November 2, confirms TV Guide Magazine, just as Kyle is set to marry Nick as part of a symbolic wedding of 25 same-sex couples.

Scott Evans, who is gay in real life and who plays Fish, recently spoke on the big event. A couple excerpts:

On Fish and his parents: Fish still hasn’t heard from his parents since he came out to them. Things weren’t left on the best of terms, so he suddenly has the realization, “Oh, my gosh, my parents were probably watching this and just saw me come out!” If there’s any hope of reconciliation, this is probably going to ruin it. His dad was his hero for his whole life, and you don’t want to be shot down by your hero. That’s not ever going to go away.

Fish and Kyle

On the Kish relationship: The guys both realize they should probably go on a date first. After everything that’s gone on between them, there’s no way they’re about to put a ring on it just yet. But, yeah, they decide to be a couple and even that won’t be easy because something always comes up - no pun intended.

Kyle is a med student on call, Fish is a cop on call, so it’ll be tough to schedule a relationship. It’ll be frustrating for the fans who’ve been waiting so long for them to get together but, eventually, they’ll get what they want. We gotta take it one step at a time. I hope we’re shattering [the notion] that gay guys can’t wait to get into bed. That’s a stereotype.

They’ll be spending time together when they can. He comes over to Fish’s place for Thanksgiving. It’s all very, very sweet. It’ll be nice to see the relationship develop.

** UPDATE: Astute readers have written in and said we got this wrong. Kyle will NOT marry Nick on this episode, but he also will NOT marry Fish. Evans' quote at the end here makes more sense in that context.

We apologize for the confusion and the error.

Coming to One Life To Live: Gay Weddings Galore!

The Llanview Mayoral race is coming down to the wire on One Life To Live.

In order to defeat arch rival Viki, Dorian (Robin Strasser, pictured) will soon come up with a plan: she'll pretend to turn lesbian and marry her campaign manager.

Moreover, this ceremony will be one of 22 same-sex marriages that take place simultaneously, as Dorian attempts to win the gay vote on episodes that air October 30 and November 2.

OLTL Star

In an interview with head writer Ron Carlivati, TV Guide Magazine asks him about this unique storyline. A few excerpts:

On who will win: It’s like those Daytime Emmys predictions. Who should win? Who will win? I see the wisdom in voting for Viki, but I think fans will still root for Dorian to win the election, even under false pretenses.

On the gay marriages: Nick is a member of the Llanview Gay & Lesbian Alliance, and so is Amelia [Tia Dionne Hodge], the woman Dorian plans to marry. This is their idea to bring attention to this issue of gay marriage, a way to raise awareness. It not only becomes the talk of Llanview but it reaches other towns - in fact, it becomes world news. We’re going overseas with this one!

On winning over the gay vote: There is a bit of a twist to this. The weddings are set to take place on the eve of the election and, if Dorian wins, [she promises] to issue real marriage licenses to each of the couples. If the validity of the licenses is contested, she’ll take the case to the Supreme Court.
