Austin Nichols Pushes for "Greatest Happy Ending Ever" on One Tree Hill

Austin Nichols is enjoying his first season as a regular on One Tree Hill. He stars as Julian Baker on The CW hit.

As the real-life boyfriend of co-star Sophia Bush, the actor has a unique perspective on the show. He shared it in a recent interview, going into detail about his status and his hopes for Julian's future...

On full-time cast member status: “It’s great. It’s exciting. It’s different from being a guest. You feel more responsible for the show as a whole, for the final in product, as a regular. But it’s been fun. As far as I can tell, this season there has been really great material and better than any season before it, so it’s been really cool.”

On his return: “When [creator Mark Schwahn] asked me to come back as a series regular I told him I only would if we could make a really powerful love story for Brooke and Julian. I wanted him to give them the greatest love story. I mentioned The Notebook to him. I wanted him to give them that kind of love and story."

On hopes for Brooke and Julian: "I want them to have the greatest happy ending ever."

Viewers will need to wait awhile to see if that comes true.

But they only need to follow this article's jump to watch two clips from Monday's new episode of One Tree Hill.

An Exclusive Interview with One Tree Hill Star Lee Norris

TVF Exclusive

While One Tree Hill underwent a cast shake-up prior to the premiere of season seven, one face has remained a constant on this CW hit since its premiere:

Lee Norris as Marvin "Mouth" McFadden.

TV Fanatic spoke with the talented, affable young actor today. We asked him about Mouth's future, his dream job - and whether or not he's jealous of co-star Robert Buckley's shirtless scenes...

TV Fanatic: Does it bother you that Clay (Buckley) has probably had more shirtless scenes already this season than Mouth has had in over six years?
Norris: [Laughs] It does not. In fact, I encourage the writers to keep that ratio up. If I had Rob's six-pack, I might feel differently, but I'm definitely okay with it for now.

TV Fanatic: What was it like to go through the cast shake up at the end of last season and beginning of this season?
Norris: It's been good. We miss [Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton] and it was tough to say goodbye to them after six year. But at its core, One Tree Hill is an ensemble show. There are lot of key characters still around and there are a lot of interesting stories to tell about them.

Lee Norris

TV Fanatic: Talk about your new castmates.
Norris: Rob is a likable, good-looking guy. The show has done a great job revealing his character's background over the last few weeks. It's hard not to root for a guy like Clay.  And Shantel VanSanten and Jana Kramer are just so beautiful, funny and talented. It's been easy balancing the old and the new.

TV Fanatic: What's it been like to have starred for so long alongside other show veterans like Sophia Bush and James Lafferty?
Norris: We were just talking about how it's been seven years now. That's longer than high school or college. It's crazy when you think about it, but how many people get to work with their best friends every day and do something they love? It's a cliche, but we really are like a family.

A Turning Point for One Tree Hill: Airing Tonight!

There's no Major League Baseball playoff game on tonight; nor is there even a new episode of House.

Therefore, viewers have no excuse not to tune in to "I and Love and You," a new hour of One Tree Hill that producer Mark Schwahn refers to as an emotional turning point for the show.

The installment will delve deeply into Clay's background, as fans will meet a woman named Sara.

Also, the Nathan love-child storyline will remain a focus when Renee is featured on Dan's talk show. Star James Lafferty even directs the episode.

Check out Schwahn's preview of the "I and Love and You" below:

One Tree Hill Interview: James Lafferty on The Present and Future of Naley

He's gone from a bad boy to the ultimate family man.

But has Nathan cheated on Haley? That's the question hanging over One Tree Hill these days.

In a new interview with TV Guide, star James Lafferty says he's "excited" about season seven developments so far. Here are excerpts from the article:

On the Nathan/Renee storyline: I was excited [because] it's rare nowadays that the Nathan and Haley relationship is threatened in any way. They used to have their ups and downs when they were in high school, married, and lately they've been a pretty rock-solid foundation. At no point did I actually think it would break them up, which would cause mutiny from the fans, so for me it was exciting because I knew it would be a great story to tell.

Naley

On the return of Rachel as Dan's wife: I was a little shocked, as I'm sure the audience was. People think no one in Tree Hill can date outside the same pool of people, but it's actually amazing how well that relationship works and where they're going with it. What they actually do with that relationship is going to be something that the audience is really captivated by.

On future Naley children: I don't know actually, but I don't think it's ever out of the question. Nathan and Haley have their hands full with Jamie, but I think that would be an exciting thing for the fans to see.

A new episode of the show airs tonight. Remember to visit TV Fanatic this week for the latest One Tree Hill quotes from it.

Robert Buckley Previews "Mess" of a Clay/Quinn Relationship on One Tree Hill

Fiction is starting to follow fact on One Tree Hill.

In an interview with Robert Buckley a couple weeks ago, the actor said he and Shantel VanSanten have grown close on the set of The CW hit. As viewers of the series know, the same can be said for their character, Clay and Quinn.

While Buckley wouldn't give much away in an interview with E News, he did reveal the following about Clay and Quinn's future:

"I can say with certainty that it will be mess. It's a tough situation because I wouldn't say Clay is all for a hookup, but he's attracted to her."

Quinn and Clay

Whatever develops with this pair, Clay's client (and Quinn's brother-in-law) won't be happy, Buckley said:

"Nathan makes it clear that he doesn't want Clay anywhere near Quinn."

Why not? Does Clay have something to hide? The actor was coy about the answer.

"We find out more about Clay's past and how he got to Tree Hill. There will be flashbacks, but a lot of it is happening in real time as well. You meet people from his past showing up, and it introduces a whole set of problems.

As you ponder what those can be, catch up on the latest One Tree Hill quotes now!

An Exclusive Interview with Robert Buckley

Earlier today, The CW announced it has picked up One Tree Hill for a full season.

To many fans of the show, this is exciting for one huge reason: more Robert Buckley!

The former Lipstick Jungle star has come aboard the long-time series in the role of Clay. In an exclusive interview, he tells TV Fanatic about joining the cast, as well as not wearing a shirt...

TV Fanatic: Are you wearing a shirt right now?
Robert Buckley: Yes.

TV Fanatic: Does it ever bother you that you're almost as well known for your literal body of work as for your acting skills?
Buckley: No, because it was never to the detriment of my performance. Going back to Lipstick Jungle, I know I received compliments on the superficial, so to speak, but it was never said in a way that implied I lacked talent as an actor.
That being said, I knew I wanted a new role that was more than just the half-naked, cabana boy. You'll see me in a lot more clothing on One Tree Hill.

As Clay

TV Fanatic: You've come aboard a long-running show and sort of replaced one of its bigger stars, Chad Michael Murray. Have you felt any pressure in that regard?
Buckley: I never looked at it that way. The show jumped ahead 14 months, so Lucas and Peyton had a child and left; it was a natural course of events.
A lot can happen in real life in a year's time, so there's wasn't pressure to fill anyone's shoes. The storyline made sense that I wouldn't be treated as a replacement.

Mark Schwann, Cast Members Reveal One Tree Hill Spoilers

One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwann, original cast member Sophia Bush, and newcomer Shantel VanSanten recently dished to Zap2it about what we can expect when the series returns in a couple of weeks. The short answer: A lot.

Mark talked about reinventing the show, as well as what it's like without Chad Michael Murray, while Sophia hinted at the future for her alter ego Brooke Davis.

In the excerpts below, the three offer some insight on the upcoming Season Seven and reveal some juicy One Tree spoilers to whet our collective appetites.

On whether Julian (Nichols) can make Brooke (Sophia) happy this year: "Well, there are issues for everybody," Sophia Bush said. "One of the things that we have to deal with in our relationship is the distance and, you know, you're in your late 20s and, is this it or is it not?"

"They're very real questions that everybody asks themselves at that age point, but it's really fun and there is a lot of love between [Brooke and Julian]. It's very cool."

Brooke Davis Photo

On not having Hilarie and Chad around for the first time since 2003: "You know, it's different, but it doesn't feel strange," Bush said. "Actually, it feels pretty amazing to go to work every day and we're so lucky to have these new cast members and everybody else is still around."

On the One Tree Hill quotes that happen off-camera: "You know, it's Rob and Shantel and Austin and we still have Lisa [Goldstein (Millicent)] and Antwon [Tanner (Skills)] and Allison [Munn (Lauren)] and Lee Norris (Mouth) and Jackson [Brundage (Jamie)] is obviously still there, Jana Kramer is working with us for a while and she's amazing, so many wonderful people."

"So it doesn't feel empty whatsoever. It's a full house and everybody's laughing on set all day and the energy is really incredible."

Hilarie Burton Speaks on One Tree Hill Exit

After six years of angst, heartache, more angst, cheesy One Tree Hill quotes and even more angst, the lovely Hilarie Burton (along with co-star Chad Michael Murray) will make her final appearance as Peyton Sawyer on Monday's season finale of One Tree Hill.

On the eve of her swan song, the one-time TRL hostess is setting the record straight about the reason behind their controversial departure, the "hurtful" rumors that precipitated it, and a certain video that left many of her fans scratching their heads.

Here's Hilarie's revealing interview with EW's Michael Ausiello, which may contain spoilers for tomorrow night's season six finale. Consider yourself forewarned ...

Q: There are a lot of rumors flying about why you're leaving. What's the truth?

Hilarie Burton: There really wasn't a lot of turmoil. It was a fabulous six-year run, which is how long my contract was for, and I feel really lucky to have been a part of the show. So when I hear that there's turmoil or negotiations based on money it kind of hurts my feelings, because it's not what's been going on at all. I think my fan base in particular knows that money isn't necessarily a big motivator for me, that's why I work in the world of independent film.

Q: How long have you known that you were leaving?

Hilarie Burton: I've known for a little while. For me, it was definitely an emotional decision. And a professional decision as well. I got really, really lucky. One Tree Hill was my very first television audition; it was a fairytale. I feel really lucky to have that level of success right out of the gate.

Q: Just so I'm clear, it was your decision to leave, not the other way around?

Hilarie Burton: I think everyone was kind of agreeable about the situation. There were a lot of really wonderful conversations. It wasn't a rash decision; a lot of thought, emotion, and kindness was put into it. I would hope that that's the story that gets out - that it was a bunch of adults being good to each other and being kind about the decision-making process.

Clay: My wife died. Suddenly and unfairly. But she believed in me. And she believed in what I wanted to do. So I buried her, and I picked out her headstone, and then I went to work. So don't tell me about fortitude. And don't lecture me about dark days. Because this, is far from my darkest day.
