Private Practice Pics and Spoilers: "The Parent Trap" and "Blowups"

Get ready for a double shot of Private Practice!

Two episodes, "The Parent Trap" and "Blowups," will air back-to-back tomorrow evening on ABC. The titles are telling. In the former, Sam and Naomi must cope with their teenage daughter growing up too fast, while Addison has to contend with the Captain.

The latter? Well, you can take it literally.

"We all knew some sh!t was going down," Chris Lowell told E!, and he wasn't kidding. Dell’s home explodes, landing both his wife Heather and their daughter in the hospital.

“When it first happens, there’s total panic and hysteria,” Lowell teased.

That's nothing compared to when the cause of the blast is revealed, he says: “It rocks Dell’s world in a bad way. After this episode, he completely loses faith in a lot of things.”

Our guess? Heather's a meth dealer.

Private Practice Spoilers: KaDee Strickland Teases McSteamy Crossover

Private Practice is about to get a whole lot McSteamier.

As you probably know by now if you're a fan of the ABC Grey's Anatomy spinoff, somebody from that show is traveling to L.A. from Seattle to appear in an upcoming episode.

That someone has ties to star Kate Walsh (Addison).

“You’ll get a taste of what you love with Addison and Sloan [Eric Dane],” Kadee Strickland, who plays Charlotte, told TV Guide. "We know their relationship is never simple."

Their relationship, as well as the upcoming crossover is, however, "always fun to watch. They have great chemistry together. It’s really cool having him come over.”

What was it like having Dane on their set for a change?

“He kept saying, ‘Everyone’s so nice!’ I think it’s great, You never know, because he has his home [at Grey’s Anatomy]. I’m sure he feels safe and nice there and now he gets to come over. It’s like he just changed schools. He’s a very sweet man.”

The crossover is believed to center on Mark's teenage daughter, played by Leven Rambin, who revealed herself on last week's episode of Grey's. She also revealed that she's pregnant, a possible tie-in with Mark and neo-natal surgeon Addison.

As for Charlotte, Strickland loves where her storyline is headed.

“This whole sexology thing that I get to do? It runs the gamut from trannies to sexual dysfunction. I have tons of stuff to play with. I can’t wait!”

Private Practice Clip, Photos from "Sins of the Father"

This Thursday's episode of Private Practice might not place Addison in a life-threatening situation or have her awkwardly make out with Sam, but that doesn't mean it isn't loaded with interesting storylines.

Addison's father, played by Stephen Collins, pays his daughter a surprise visit. There's also a marriage intervention and - as the clip below depicts - an arrest...

Sins of the Father Clip

As always, TV Fanatic will recap and review the episode in depth.

Uh-oh.

On this week's episode of Private Practice, it isn't just a patient that's in danger. Addison finds herself trapped inside a car, following a hiking trip with Sam that turns into a major medical adventure.

Check out the clip below from "The Hard Part."

Private Practice Sneak Peek

There is some levity during the hour, of course:

Charlotte, Cooper and Violet treat a newlywed that has downed too much Viagra (The Hard Part? Get it?!?); while Pete and Sheldon fall for the same girl at a bar.

New Private Practice-Grey's Anatomy Crossover Planned For January

Get ready for the latest installment of what is becoming an annual or even biannual tradition: the worlds of Grey's Anatomy and its spinoff Private Practice will cross over again.

Private Practice leading lady Kate Walsh is heading back to Grey’s Anatomy in January in a crossover involving Addison, Mark, and a patient played by guest star Leven Rambin.

The situation as we know it is as follows:

On Grey’s Anatomy half of the crossover, Dr. Mark Sloan (McSteamy, a.k.a. Eric Dane) pleads with Addison to come to Seattle and help perform surgery on Rambin's character.

One would assume that the girl is pregnant, given that Addison is the preeminent neonatal surgeon in, like, the whole country. But that has not been confirmed at this point.

Then, the story continues on Private Practice when, according to creator Shonda Rhimes, “complications arise and Mark takes [her] back down to L.A. for more surgery.”

As for Mark's connection to the new patient, whether sparks fly between Addison and Mark, and how Mark and Lexie are affected, that all remains to be seen. For now.

Are you excited for the latest Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice crossover?

We'll reserve judgment on this for now, but do you think they're overdoing it with these crossovers. By our quick calculations, this will be the fourth since April 2008:

  • Addison returned to Seattle near the end of Season 5 of Grey's Anatomy. We forget the exact reason right now, which probably tells you all you need to know.
  • Last season, Addison summoned Derek to treat her ailing brother, Archer (Grant Show). This story line continued for several episodes and on both programs.
  • Just this fall, Bailey (Chandra Wilson) took a transplant patient to Los Angeles, where she resides, after she was unable to get the help needed in Seattle.

More Info on Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice Crossover

We've already posted this info via promotional photos and via Chandra Wilson's long interview yesterday, but E! has a few quotes regarding her visit to Private Practice this week.

Chandra Wilson (Bailey on Grey's Anatomy): "[Bailey]'s being overprotective of a patient, so it starts on Grey's Anatomy, and of course, the surgery can only be done in Los Angeles at St. Ambrose, so she ends up there with a patient."

Paul Adelstein (Cooper on Private Practice): "[Bailey] takes us to task. She's a truth teller, and her writing is truth telling, so she comes in and cuts us down to size pretty good."

Private Practice Photos: "Right Here, Right Now"

This Thursday's all-new episode of Private Practice, "Right Here, Right Now," takes its name from the popular, early '90s hit of the same name by the band Jesus Jones.

What that has to do with this episode, we have no idea. But what we do know is that Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) will be crossing over from Grey's Anatomy!

Bailey brings a kidney transplant patient to Los Angeles, and Addison, her former Seattle Grace colleague, isn't the only Oceanside Wellness doctor pleased to see her.

Meanwhile, consequences of Addison's emotional affair with Noah catch up with her, and Sheldon and Pete finally - finally! - discover who the father of Violet's baby is.

Combine those things and you have an episode that pretty much sounds awesome. Click to enlarge lots of photos of Bailey, Sam and Addison on Private Practice ...

Private Practice Casts Barry Bostwick, Plans to Explore Addison's Family

Last season, Private Practice viewers watched as Addison's brother Archer suffered through a life-threatening disease.

It like like this was just an initial look into the Montgomery family, as a series rep tells People that fans will soon learn a lot more about her privileged background.

In a November episode aptly titled "Sins of the Father," Barry Bostwick will guest star as The Captain, as Addison's dad drops in to Oceanside Wellness Center.

Barry B.Kate is Addison

Daughter and father “have bad blood between them,” the show insider said. “It’s a tense relationship.”

Bostwick is best known for his former role as the Mayor on Spin City. In 2009, he appeared on Nip/Tuck, Ghost Whisperer and Supernatural.

UPDATE: This role has been changed. Stephen Collins will now portray Addison's father.

Private Practice Previews: "The Way We Were"

Now that Violet and her baby are safe and sound, and the dust has settled from last week's Season 3 premiere, the doctors of Private Practice are totally back to normal.

Yeah, right.

In the sneak preview below, from tomorrow night's episode, "The Way We Were," Cooper is clearly not over what happened to his BFF Violet. Charlotte tries to help him out ...

The Way We Were Sneak Preview #1

Follow the jump for two more sneak peeks at the episode, in which we see just how hard Violet is struggling. She doesn't even want to hold her baby and won't leave the house.

Then, at Oceanside, we also see how Addison and Sam are in denial about their own issues:

Private Practice Photos from "A Death in the Family"

Few shows left viewers closer to the edges of their seats in May than Private Practice.

In one of the most disturbing cliffhangers in TV history, Violet was drugged, left immobilized and was about to have her baby cut out of her. Yes, Shonda Rhimes really went there.

When the new season premieres on October 1, the fate of Violet and her child will be the main focus of the episode titled "A Death in the Family." Does this title forecast the end of a main character?

You'll need to tune in to find out. But fans can get an early look at the Private Practice season premiere with the photos below...
