After a season finale that left both characters in limbo, are Violet and Charlotte coming back for the third season of Private Practice this September?

It looks like it. KaDee Strickland has confirmed her return for the third campaign of the Grey's Anatomy spinoff, but it did come down to the wire.

Says KaDee, who plays Charlotte, "Until I got my pickup letter, I didn't think I was coming back like the rest of us. I think Amy [Brenneman] got hers; I'm sure she did. It should be an interesting thing to see what they do when we come back."

After the shocking Private Practice season finale, fans are left worried about Violet's fate. Is the lovably neurotic shrink really going to be killed on the floor?

Amy Brenneman offers some reassurance, saying:

"The way the season went out, I know it does not seem that I'm OK, [but] as far as I know, I have a job next year. I know that much."

That's good, right?

Oh, and what about Charlotte, who just got canned? Brenneman commented on that as well:

"As far as I know, both Violet and Charlotte will return," though she hinted that things aren't quite over for Violet and Cooper, romantically.

"That's the eternal love, let's be honest," she said. "So yeah, don't give up hope."

Elsewhere in Shonda-land, Josh Hopkins was a welcome addition to the cast as Addison's married love interest Noah. Can we expect to see sparks flying next fall?

The official word from ABC is that "Josh is part of our pilot, Cougar Town, costarring Courteney Cox Arquette" - so it will all hinge on whether that gets picked up.

However, if ABC were to nix Cougar Town, it's likely Josh will be back at least in a recurring role. Chemistry and fan interest in Noah and Addy are palpable.

Below is a clip from this week's Private Practice season finale, in which the scandalous and crazy love triangle and baby daddy mystery is finally unveiled? Or is it?

Amy Brenneman teased that "Something happens in the finale that is so big and upsetting that it makes the question of who the baby's father is secondary."

We imagine she's referring to this clip, in which Amanda Foreman's delusional character, Katie Kent, lost her own baby, so now she wants Violet's as a replacement.

It's as strange as it sounds, if not more so. Peep the Private Practice preview below:

As Private Practice builds towards its season finale this week, plenty of big questions remain unanswered. Looks as if that's not going to change, either.

According to E! Online's spoiler Q&A, Violet's baby drama very definitely ends in a cliffhanger; increasingly flirtatious Addison and Josh do not behave themselves; and Charlotte gets herself spanked - and we don't mean in a fun, sexy way, people.

The official synopsis for "Yours, Mine and Ours" reads:

"As Violet chooses between Pete and Sheldon, a grief-stricken patient poses a danger to her; Addison faces her feelings for Noah as Morgan goes into labor; Dell has new concerns for his daughter when a drugged-out Heather returns to town; and Naomi must decide if it's in her best interest to stay with Oceanside Wellness or start anew at Pacific Wellcare."

Should be a great one coming our way Thursday.

Private Practice returns Thursday evening, and EW's Michael Ausiello says fans can prepare themselves for some graphic imagery - no, not the train wreck that is Addison's love life.

According to the TV sleuth, expect the most disturbing childbirth scene since Jessica Lange forced Gwyneth Paltrow to deliver via an oxytocin-laced layer cake in 1998's Hush.

Gross. But we're glad the show's back.

We have a pressing update on the Private Practice season finale.

According to Zap2It, fans might need to prepare for extreme frustration.

For starters, the identity of Violet's baby daddy will NOT be revealed during the April 30 episode.

That's far from all, however.

As previously reported, former Oceanside Wellness patient Katie (Amanda Foreman) will appear on the show. And she'll be seeking serious revenge.

Sources say she blames Violet for her unsuccessful pregnancy and will hold the doctor hostage, demanding that she hand her baby over as payback. Whoa.

What do you think of this storyline? Exciting and suspenseful? Or straining the bounds of credulity?

The April 30 season finale of Private Practice is sneaking up on fans.

As a result, we were happy to see Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly provide a preview of up the upcoming episode.

Reportedly, certain events will leave viewers unsure if both Amy Brenneman and KaDee Strickland are returning to the series. (Don't worry, they are; an ABC insider has confirmed it.)

Elsewhere, look for major turning points in the Violet/Pete and Sam/Naomi relationships.

As expected, fans are dying to know if there will be a third season of Private Practice.

Before we answer that question, however, let's cover the rest of season two, shall we? E! Online recently provided us with a couple of spoilers for the next two episodes:

• Amanda Foreman returns as Katie for the April 30 season finale. Look for her to be bearing arms... and we don't mean in a sleeveless dress!

• Dell's daughter, Betsy, will also make another appearance on the show.

• And, yes, Private Practice will almost assuredly be picked up for a third season. Its post-Grey's Anatomy timeslot has been working out very well.

Is Violet's baby daddy on Private Practice Pete or Sheldon?

None of us know for sure, nor do we know when we'll even find out. Or do we?

According to E! Online's spoiler Q&A today, the mystery of who it is and when we will find out may soon be solved when the series returns from its hiatus April 23.
