Chandra Wilson, Sara Ramirez Diagnose Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice

Grey's Anatomy cast members Chandra Wilson and Sara Ramirez recently chatted with TV Guide about what's to come at Seattle Grace - and in the case of the former, what we can expect when she crosses over to Private Practice, ABC's sister show, this week.

“I’m being overprotective of a patient I have that of course their care has to happen in L.A. at St. Ambrose – because that’s the only place it can be in the world,” Wilson joked.

“So I’m heading over to Private Practice!

Sara Ramirez teased a potential inter-show romantic angle coming our way: “You know, Taye Diggs’ character is single now,” she said of Bailey and Diggs' Dr. Sam Bennett.

Wilson won't bite. “I don’t share stories,” she insisted, laughing.

As for the rest of the Seattle Grace staff? They are about to feel a chill as the result of the merger with rival Mercy West, which will put some doctors' jobs in jeopardy.

Grey's Anatomy stars Chandra Wilson and Sara Ramirez dish on what's to come.

“Not everyone at Seattle Grace is safe,” hinted Ramirez, while Wilson took that theme even further: “Next week is a jaw-dropper. It’s not going to work out for some people.”

Wilson will also be stepping behind the camera as director of the seventh episode of this season Grey’s Anatomy (this week is #5) in a "Patrick Dempsey-centric" episode.

Ramirez says Wilson’s directorial style is the opposite of Bailey's surgery Nazi.

“She was amazing and we all fell in love with her as a director,” Ramirez said.

“There was just a calm, grounded energy about Chandra when she walks in, and everybody just kind of feels it. And it’s so nice and you don’t feel rushed and you don’t feel crazy."

Paul Adelstein Previews Guilt-Ridden Cooper on Private Practice

When Private Practice viewers last saw Violet, she was being sarved up by her crazy patient that wanted her baby. It was likely the most disturbing development on TV last season.

The ABC drama returns tonight, picking up seconds after this attack. As Kate Walsh admitted earlier this week, there's no shock here: Violet lives

But Paul Adelstein (Cooper) tells TV Guide about the aftermath of that fateful night; while also dishing on Violet's baby daddy and another Grey's Anatomy crossover. Below are excerpts from his interview:

On Cooper's state of mind: Cooper has some serious guilt about being so close and not being able to help [Violet]. His reaction to that is interesting. It takes some work for him to be able to comfort her, and vice versa, for her to receive comfort from anybody.

On the aftermath of the attack: [There's] a lot of stress on everybody. There's the whole baby issue and taking care of the baby and who the father is. Violet had chosen Pete at the end of last season and I think he fully expects to be the principal person in her life, but she might not be capable of that kind of attention.

On more Grey's Anatomy stars crossing over to Private Practice: I think there are. I'm not 100 percent sure of that, but I caught wind that there may be somewhere down the line this season.

Return tomorrow for a full recap of the Private Practice series premiere, replete with quotes, photos and more!

Kate Walsh Teases Ramifications of Private Practice Season Premiere Events

It shouldn't come as a major Private Practice spoiler to announce that Violet survives an intense ordeal on Thursday night's season premiere.

But Kate Walsh assures fans this storyline won't just go away as soon as Violet is safe and sound. The star told TV Guide this week:

"It's still present. That's one thing that's so great about [creator Shonda Rhimes]. She doesn't just resolve something quickly and move on, she kind of plays [with] the reality of the situation. You're going to see a big shift in Violet and everybody in the practice about the aftermath of it. It doesn't just go away in one episode."

Private Practice Season Three: An In-Depth Preview

The bad news: Private Practice does not premiere its third season until October 1.

The good news: Thanks to the in-depth preview below, there's plenty to talk about until then.

E! News spoke with Kate Walsh and other series stars ths week, inquiring about various upcoming storylines for the episodes ahead, such as who will actually be in charge of Oceanside Wellness. Let's take a gander at what they had to say...

Walsh, on Addison's family: "I'm not sure who's going to come over from the East Coast, but I'm sure they're going to be good and WASP-y and awesome. When Grant Show came on last year as my brother, it was fun for me to see Addison in that lower-status position, as someone's daughter or little sister. It's really fun to play because she's such a fierce and agro personality at work, and then to see her smacked down at home is fun."

Go Away, Pete!

Chris Lowell, on reduced number of episodes for Dell: "I think it's a really good thing. I feel like you hear horror stories about contracts on some shows and horror stories about bad blood, and that's not this. It could not have gone smoother. Shonda has always had a really warm level of communication with our cast. We just sat down at the end of last season and talked about how we could make things better for my character, and we thought that was the way to do it."
