Will Spencer Pratt finally apologize to Lauren Conrad and admit starting the sex tape rumor that sparked over two years of feuding between LC and Heidi Montag?

From the preview of tonight's The Hills below, it looks like he just might. Even as he resists Heidi Montag's initial requests for him to do so, you know he'll cave.

It's marriage, after all.

This rumor has been circulating for weeks, but now it's apparently a done deal: Lauren Conrad's former high school rival on Laguna Beach, Kristin Cavallari, will be stepping in for her retiring counterpart on The Hills, beginning in the season finale and continue next fall.

Kristin, who introduced Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt four years ago, will make her Hills debut May 31 at the plastic pair's wedding - and she'll catch the bouquet, natch.

Moreover, she admits she's doing this to bolster her own fame, and that part of the reason she was brought on board was to create drama. "Reality" TV at its finest!

As The Hills' Lo Bosworth recently pointed out, the star of the series is technically Lauren Conrad, but when she quits at the end of this season, Speidi could easily take over.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, that is.

The gruesome twosome is going at it again tonight - this time in therapy. That's right, Heidi actually dragged Spencer to a fake therapist! You can imagine how that went.

The Hills returns with the first episode of its fifth (and Lauren Conrad's final) season this evening on MTV and from the looks of it, the drama is not in short supply.

First, Lauren and Heidi Montag apparently patch things up, at least to a point. But it looks as though she doesn't invite her to her birthday party, making Heidi sad.

Useless instigator Stephanie Pratt convinces Heidi to go anyway, as her guest, and as they prepare to go, Spencer inquires what their "girls night out" consists of.

Suffice it to say, when Spencer learns his mortal enemy will be present during their evening festivities, he is far from pleased, and his response is pretty priceless:

The lovely Lauren Conrad, 23, will be saying goodbye to The Hills after its upcoming fifth season - which premieres Monday, April 6 - ends its 10-episode run on MTV.

"I actually thought last season was going to be my last," LC said. "[But] the producers wanted to hopefully give the show some sort of closure and needed one more."

Lauren says she's taking back seat in her final episodes, though. Why? "I didn't have all that much conflict in my life," she says. "I think I only cry in one episode."

Will the MTV mainstay return for another season beyond that?

We know that Lauren Conrad, the show's protagonist, will not. Could the faux reality show possibly continue in her absence, focusing merely on the ancillary SoCal peeps?

Spencer Pratt would totally be down, but it's very much up in the air. One thing's for sure, though, says creator Adam DiVello: The trailer for the new season (below) showing an LC-Heidi reunion is misleading, in large part because of the lingering presence of Spencer.

Ridiculous as it seems that there are "spoilers" for a reality show, you remember what happened with The Bachelor, right? Those were totally right, and wildly controversial!

It will be the MTV hit's last, Lauren Conrad has confirmed.

The beautiful star, whose life has been chronicled on reality TV for years on Laguna Beach and The Hills, has been expressing a desire to pursue other interests - and have more privacy - for some time now, so this move is not altogether surprising.

This season, on The Hills ...

• After conning us all with their faux marriage to wrap up Season Four, Heidi and Spencer stage a fake fight and possibly even a fake divorce.

• Heidi and LC may make up, and Brody and Spencer may patch up their bro-mance. We feel lame for even writing the previous sentence.

• Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth move out of their house. Into a condo. Yeah, even the manufactured story lines are kind of running out.
