Vampire Diaries spoiler alert: Damon and Stefan are not leaving the show!

While most fans never thought they actually would, last week's installment did conclude with the sexy siblings both claiming they were through with Mystic Falls.

Each plays a vital role on Thursday's new episode, however, intriguingly titled "The Turning Point." First, Damon gets a visit from Sheriff Forbes, as seen in the clip below:

From there, Stefan tries to explain to Elena why he can't ever remain in one place for very long. But she doesn't wanna hear it.

Sadly, this is the final new episode until January 14. But fans can at least catch up with a marathon on The CW in December.

It will never be mistaken for Lost, but The Vampire Diaries will soon have something in common with that ABC hit (aside from Ian Somerhalder).

Producer Kevin Williamson told TV Guide that the show will soon flashback to a major event from its characters' past. We'll let him set it up:

"We have another flashback episode scheduled. We're going to learn more about the night [Stefan and Damon] died."

Viewers will also discover something shocking about Katherine during this installment.

On Thursday's new episode of The Vampire Diaries, viewers meet Alaric Saltzman.

A beloved character from the book series, this teacher will be played by Matt Davis. Fans are encouraged to weigh in on this casting addition in our show forum.

Meanwhile, Bonnie's mysterious past will also play a significant role on "History Repeating." In the clip below, Stefan admits to Elena that he's familiar with it already:

There are clearly vampires in Mystic Falls.

After last week's episode, we also know there have been witches in the town for centuries.

TV Guide, meanwhile, reports that another creature will soon make an appearance on The Vampire Diaries.

On an upcoming episode, a major male character will turn out to be a werewolf. This storyline was not part of the L.J. Smith book series; and the magazine state that the individual in question won't even know he's a werewolf at first.

Interesting. There are only a couple candidates, really: Tyler and Matt. Our money is on the latter. Debate this issue now in our Vampire Diaries forum!

Next Thursday, it will be a week since Vicki's death.

Viewers will also meet a new vampire on the episode. Her name is Lexi and she's twice the age of the Salvatore brothers.

As viewers of The Vampire Diaries already know, Mystic Falls is an unusual town; one filled with creatures that often go bump - and bite - in the night.

Therefore, we can't even imagine what the town must be like on Halloween. Fortunately, we won't have to: tonight's new episode is focused on All Hallows' Eve.

What can fans expect on "Haunted?" A scene that made Katerina Graham (Bonnie) cry, according to Kayla Ewell (Vicki), who told TV Guide:

"It's going to be one of the most shocking moments of television and you don't want to miss it."

We won't, don't worry. Here are a few more excerpts from Ewell's interview with the publication:

On Vicki's transformation: "It was really fun to find out that I was becoming a vampire because I was the first to make the transition. The second thought I had was, "Oh crap, I have to do this now." I talked to some of our producers, and asked what some good movies to watch are.

"One I watched was Interview with the Vampire, to actually study how they bite people and suck their blood. You have to grow the fangs, so your gums are aching. You have to go through all the things that you're feeling physically because you're completely changing. I've never played anything animalistic before, so this has been such a fun stretch for me."

On what sort of vampire Vicki makes: "My take is that she's a bad vampire. Whoever you are as a person is [magnified] by 1,000 when you turn into a vampire. I'm a mini-Damon, only a female version."

On Matt Davis as Alaric: I'm such a fan. His character, Alaric, comes in as the new teacher because the teacher died. Damon killed the first teacher that everyone hated. [Davis] comes in as the super-hot teacher that all the kids are obsessed with. He starts to date Jenna. No one realizes that he is a vampire slayer.

The Vampire Diaries hasn't aired a new episode in two weeks, but it feels like forever.

Speaking of forever, that's a time frame Vicki now needs to adjust to, as she's been turned and must learn how to live as an eternal blood sucker.

As fans of this CW series can imagine, Damon and Stefan have very different ideas about what this entails. In the clip below - courtesy of Thursday's new episode, "Haunted" - each brother tries to sway Vicki to his side:

After a week off, The Vampire Diaries (thankfully!) returns with a new episode this week.

It's titled "Haunted," it focuses on Halloween in Mystic Falls and the holiday looks to provide an issue for new vampire Vicki.

We'll recap and review the hour in depth, as always, but we wanna take a moment to look ahead.

On the November 12 episode of the show, Matt Davis debut as Alaric Saltzman. The character is a history teacher that knows a lot about the town's unique, creature-based history.

Check out a couple images of Davis from the installment, as he gets close to Jenna and causes us to wonder what he's hiding...

What are you?!?

Elena posed this piercing question to Stefan to close last week's episode.

Tonight, she'll get her answer... and then some! Stefan will take his girlfriend on a trip down memory lane, one that details the history of Mystic Falls and the Salvatore brothers.

First, in the clip below, he responds to basic questions Elena has about life as a vampire:

Damon, of course, is still a free, dangerous blood sucker. That's bad news for Vicki and other town residents.

We're excited about this week's new episode of The Vampire Diaries, don't get us wrong.

But, based on various photos and spoilers that have leaked out regarding a couple other installments, it's hard not to look ahead.

Yesterday, for example, we posted about the show's Halloween episode, in which an "enormous" development is rumored to take place.

Now, The CW has released a handful of pictures from the October 15 show, which appears to be a major hour in The Vampire Diaries lore. Stefan will finally reveal the secrets of his past to Elena, which will include a series of flashbacks regarding himself, Damon and, yes, Katherine.

Said producer Kevin Williamson:

“We’ll meet Katherine and learn the backstory. We get to see what Damon and Stefan’s relationship was like in the 1800s and where it all went wrong. We see how the triangle got created, and how they became vampires. It’s a big episode.”
