The Vampire Diaries Photos: "Fool Me Once"

At the conclusion of last week's episode of The Vampire Diaries, Stefan's soulmate was kidnapped.

Therefore, as the CW promo for this week's installment teases, Stefan will need to turn to the person without a soul: Damon.

What will go down on "Fool Me Once?" Viewers must tune in to find out (and then visit TV Fanatic for our weekly Round Table discussion of the hour, of course). But the following photos do give away certain developments from the episode.

For example: Elena isn't in Anna's clutches below. But does this mean she's safe? Click on the pics for an early look at various scenes from Thursday's program...

Vampire Diaries Cast Comments on Love Triangle

The seeds for a love triangle were plated on The Vampire Diaries last week.

As Elena bonded with Damon and viewers were treated to his softer side (with the exception of that one little murder), the show officially put fans on alert: Stefan has competition for Elena's affections.

Where might this story go from here? Producer Julie Plec and series cast members spoke to E! News about that very topic...

Plec, on show similarities: "The fans take the Damon, Elena and Stefan love triangle very seriously. It reminds me of when I worked on Dawson's Creek and we would honestly get into verbal brawls about whether Joey should be with Dawson or Pacey... We know that the show's true love right now is Stefan and Elena - but then you have Damon, and he is like the show's Pacey, so we can't count him out."

Elena and the Brothers

Paul Wesley on upcoming developments: "We are going to see more of the Salvatore backstory, and that will answer a lot of questions as to why things are the way they are."

Nina Dobrev on what's next for her: "There is a huge Katherine episode coming out in hopefully a few weeks. And I have so much fun playing Katherine because she's so unlike myself. She's so conniving and narcissistic, and it's always fun as an actress to get to do the polar opposite and be someone you're not and get it all out."

That's down the line, though. As the photo above indicates, The Vampire Diaries sort of travel back to the 1950s on Thursday's new episode, "Unpleasantville."

Hot, Cougar Sex: Coming to The Vampire Diaries!

As if the casting of Melinda Clarke as Matt's mom on The Vampire Diaries wasn't exciting enough...

Executive producer Kevin Williamson has confirmed that Clarke's Kelly Donovan will jump right into the sack with everyone's favorite, devious blood-sucker: Damon Salvatore.

“If I didn’t have Kelly and Damon hook up there would be no God,” Williamson joked about with Michael Ausiello. “What’s the point of doing TV if you’re not going to put those two characters together? That’s going to be a fun relationship to explore.”

He can say that again!

The producer adds the character won't arrive in Mystic Falls solely for hot vampire sex. She'll have quite the history with the town’s adult population.

“We’ll reveal that she was friends with Sheriff [Elizabeth] and Elena’s mother,” he said. “The three of them were really tight friends back in the day. Sheriff and Kelly, in particular, have ongoing issues to deal with.”

Clarke debuts on March 25. We can't wait.

Going Retro: The Vampire Diaries Photos from "Unpleasantville"

As previously teased, The Vampire Diaries will head back to the 1950s on its January 28 episode.

Elena, Stefan, Damon and company will attend a retro-themed school dance on that new installment; although, as the photos below depict, Damon won't exactly trade in his all-black outfit for a jean jacket or rolled-up white t-shirt.

Other Vampire Diaries cast members get into the spirit, though. Click on the pictures below for a sneak peek at the episode "Unpleasantville," including your first look at Sean Faris in the role of Ben...

The Vampire Diaries returns on January 21. Look for the relationship between Damon and Elena to heat up when the show comes back from its lengthy hiatus.

As always, TV Fanatic will be there ever step of the way to review and recap each episode in depth.

New Vampire Diaries Couple Alert: Damon and Elena?!?

Three is about to be a crowd on The Vampire Diaries.

At the TV Critics Winter Press Tour, star Nina Dobrev said her character of Elena is about to take an unwanted road trip with Damon. But this adventure will allow her to see a new side to the more devious Salvatore sibling.

"Now that the necklace is off, she's very vulnerable," Dobrev said, referring to Elena's choice to ditch her vervain-inspired jewelry on the 2009 finale. "In the next episodes we're going to see there's going to be a lot of Damon and Elena."

Great Threesome

Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder (Damon) will share passionate scenes of another kind in the near future, too: the show will once again flashback to 1864 and depict more of Katherine and Damon's relationship.

"There's a big episode coming up that's all about Katherine," Dobrev said. "I love playing her because she's everything I'm not and I can get it all out of my system. I actually have modeled the character after Ian's performance of Damon, because he does it so well."

As for other Vampire Diaries tidbits and spoilers revealed at the event:

  • Vicki is definitely dead;
  • Mia Kirshner will debut, via a flashback, as Alaric's wife on the show's returning January 21 episode;
  • "The cork will be pulled on the whole basement thing," said producer Kevin Williamson. "Before the first season is over."

The Vampire Diaries First Look: Gina Torres as Bree

When The Vampire Diaries (finally!) returns with a new episode on January 21, most fans will have one concern:

Is Elena okay?!?

When we last left this angst-ridden character, after all, she was stuck in a crashed vehicle, with some sort of creature making his way toward her.

Still, it's safe to assume that Elena makes it out of this situation alive for two reasons: she's a main character on the show and (spoiler alert!) she's featured in a couple photos below.

On the upcoming installment, "Bloodlines," Elena and Damon meet Bree, a Mystic Falls bartender played by Gina Torres. As you might expect, this character will turn out to be more than a mere drink maker.

Also featured on the episode: Jeremy yearns to learn more about his family's history...

Julie Plec Previews Future of The Vampire Diaries

When The Vampires Diaries concluded its November 19 episode, Damon was thwarted, Stefan was heartbroken and Elena was stalked by a shadowy figure.

What will happen next to each of these character? Fans will have until January 14 to debate that question in our Vampire Diaries forum, as The CW won't air new episodes until that date.

Promo Picture

Fortunately, in a recent interview, producer Julie Plec gave TV Guide Magazine a few hints of what's to come. Warning, a few show spoilers are ahead...

On the next new episode: Our first episode back is a very Damon and Elena-centric story. The two of them go off on a little adventure and bond in a way she didn’t think they were capable of... Also, Gina Torres guest stars as a witch that Damon goes to visit.

On a likely love triangle: As we go through the rest of the season, [Damon is] going to get to know Elena better and better. And can Elena and Stefan’s relationship survive her learning the truth about Katherine? Damon never lied to her and didn’t’ have sex with her. At least not yet.

(TV Fanatic note: WHOA!!!)

On the mystery vampire: Who he is and what he wants is our next big step. We’ll also learn whether the tomb can be happened and what would happen if he does.

Among other topics Plec teased and previewed:

  • Alaric will continue to act as a father figure for Jeremy;
  • Bonnie will become "very powerful;"
  • Viewers will eventually discover who turned Logan into a vampire.

Vampire Diaries Sneak Peeks: "The Turning Point"

Vampire Diaries spoiler alert: Damon and Stefan are not leaving the show!

While most fans never thought they actually would, last week's installment did conclude with the sexy siblings both claiming they were through with Mystic Falls.

Each plays a vital role on Thursday's new episode, however, intriguingly titled "The Turning Point." First, Damon gets a visit from Sheriff Forbes, as seen in the clip below:

The Turning Point Clip

From there, Stefan tries to explain to Elena why he can't ever remain in one place for very long. But she doesn't wanna hear it.

Sadly, this is the final new episode until January 14. But fans can at least catch up with a marathon on The CW in December.

Flashback Fun: Vampire Diaries to Revisit Major Event

It will never be mistaken for Lost, but The Vampire Diaries will soon have something in common with that ABC hit (aside from Ian Somerhalder).

Producer Kevin Williamson told TV Guide that the show will soon flashback to a major event from its characters' past. We'll let him set it up:

"We have another flashback episode scheduled. We're going to learn more about the night [Stefan and Damon] died."

Viewers will also discover something shocking about Katherine during this installment.

In other, recent Vampire Diaries news:

Fans are excited over Sean Faris landing a recurring role on the series. Female readers have described him as "attractive."

On Thursday's new episode of The Vampire Diaries, viewers meet Alaric Saltzman.

A beloved character from the book series, this teacher will be played by Matt Davis. Fans are encouraged to weigh in on this casting addition in our show forum.

Meanwhile, Bonnie's mysterious past will also play a significant role on "History Repeating." In the clip below, Stefan admits to Elena that he's familiar with it already:
