The Vampire Diaries Spoilers

Vampire Diaries Star Michael Trevino Talks "Lockwood Curse" with TV Fanatic

While Katherine will be the main focus of The Vampire Diaries this fall, viewers shouldn't forget about Michael Trevino's Tyler.

As previously reported, this character's family, background and inner rage will be on full display in the fall. Trevino spoke with TV Fanatic this week about the transformations ahead for Tyler...

Throughout season one, Tyler was a hot-tempered human. How excited are you to be a supernatural character?
There’s going to be more storylines, and it’ll show a different side of Tyler. Like you said, all of season one it showed how hot-headed he was, snapping at everybody. Not only that, but for me to be get into the supernatural element and find out the lineage of these werewolves and such, it’s gonna be, not a hard task, but something to look forward to. There wasn’t much of Tyler going on in season one, so they want to throw all of these projects at me now for the new season. I’m ready for it!

Do you have to go though any makeup or prosthetics for the transformation?
I haven’t. All I’ve done so far is some green screen work. We might actually be doing some CGI, so we’re testing some things out right. No word yet on actually prosthetics on my face.

Imagine the shock of seeing yourself.
For me, just the season one finale with the changing of the eye, that alone was a shock for me because I wasn’t able to see it before. So I saw it with the fans, and with everyone else watching the finale. That was exiting. Now I’m even more excited to see how they do the transformation. I think they’re still trying to figure that out.

Tyler

Is there going to be a lot of self-discovery for Tyler?
Yes there is. My uncle, Mason Lockwood, is coming into town. He has a big part in dealing with that. He has some information and secrets that he can share with me and his own personality. He’s got this curse, too, the Lockwood curse, so he feeds Tyler bits and pieces of information here and there.

How is his relationship with his uncle?
They’re not really close because Mason is the black sheep of the family. He was never really in Mystic Falls. He was there for a bit and then just vanished. With him coming back because of the death of my father and his brother, it’s strange. They’re not close, but he doesn’t have his father anymore, and he needs an older male companion. Mason is going to be there for him, and help develop my character.

Next season, are you picking up right where you left off?
Yes we are. It’s exactly from the car crash with Caroline in the hospital, Katherine chopping off Uncle John’s fingers. We are starting off right where it ended.  They wrote an awesome season premiere, so we’re looking forward to everyone seeing it.

Who Might Return on The Vampire Diaries?

When The Vampire Diaries returns on September 9, there will be a lot going on around Mystic Falls. Most notably: Katherine is back!

But aside from the suspense and intrigue of modern day storylines, producers have admitted the show will once again flash back to past years and/or decades at certain points of season two. What/who might viewers see during these special episodes?

In the latest E! News spoiler column, the following teases help answer that question:

  • Bianca Lawson (Mya on Pretty Little Liars) says of her Vampire Diaries character: "Emily Bennett's coming back to maybe be a good witch, maybe be bad witch."
  • Producer Kevin Williamson confirms that a couple individuals who died on season one could be seen again via flashbacks. Who else has his/her fingers crossed for Anna?
  • Answers about Katherine will come out. Williamson added: "Why wasn't she in the tomb? How did she escape? Where did she go? Why did she come to Mystic Falls to begin with? What brought her to Mystic Falls? There's all those fun questions that we're gonna explore."

The Vampire Diaries to Explore "Inner Rage" of Tyler on Season Two

While the return of Katherine will be the main focus of season two of The Vampire Diaries, viewers will also be treated to a lot more of Michael Trevino in the role of Tyler.

It will be an angry Tyler, Trevino explained in a recent interview, pointing to the arrive of Uncle Mason (Taylor Kinney) as the basis for this character discovering a lot about himself.

"Tyler's going to start to see certain things and notice certain things within Uncle Mason," Trevino said, adding that Mason will be "a guide to the inner rage of Tyler, and why is he this way, and why's he always fighting with himself emotionally."

Trevino also season a second season romance for his character, telling Zap2It:

"There will be a love interest this season. I know who it is. I can't tell you - it might be somebody who's already in Mystic Falls, one of the ladies, or it might be somebody new."

The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Spoilers: Producer Speaks on Katherine, Jeremy, Overall Themes

The Vampire Diaries' first season finale was unreal. Katherine, the long-lost love of both Salvatore brothers who "turned" them a century and a half ago, is back.

Much of the season was devoted to the search for Katherine, particularly on Damon's part. What can we expect with her in Mystic Falls? When will they find out?

Executive producer Julie Plec dished on that subject and others in an interview with TV Guide, which we've excerpted from below. Here's what Plec says about ...

Nina Dobrev taking on two characters at the same time: "Nina jokes that Katherine is Nina on Saturday night - definitely feisty, but by no means an evil, manipulative, horrible troll. For her to be able to play both the moral center and soulful, compassionate character, and then the narcissistic, selfish, manipulative, naughty minx is big for her."

Bonnie in the Background

Katherine's agenda: "She sets her sights on basically making sure that the Stefan and Elena love story hits a snag. It's going to be fun seeing Stefan and Katherine come up against each other. Obviously it's going to be fun to see Damon and Katherine because there's a lot of history there, too, but the triangle becomes the square."

When the Salvatores figure it out it's Katherine: "They both know within 15 minutes in the first episode. Damon realizes he was duped, and Stefan comes face-to-face with Katherine. The fun of it is how Stefan responds, as opposed to how Damon does."

The arc of Season Two: "What I loved about what 'Founders Day' gave us is that we had this small town that was building up to its big anniversary, and the long arc of the show is that history repeats itself. We're going to do something like that again this year."

Anna's death: We introduced the character knowing her exit would [have] a profound impact on Jeremy and Damon. For Damon, it was a glimpse of his humanity - he wanted to help her. We definitely knew she was there to make our heroes grow."

Jeremy: "We refuse to say what happens to Jeremy other than the fact that he's 'alive.' Regardless of that, the most important thing for Jeremy is that he's going to come out the other side of this with a much, much deeper and much stronger sense of himself."

The Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Kevin Williamson on Katherine, Isobel and More!

There's no better source for Vampire Diaries spoilers and information than Kevin Williamson.

The producer spoke to E! News at last weekend's Comic-Con, opening up about everything from Katherine's return to the possible re-appearance of Isobel.

Sit back, take in these teases and then head over to our Vampire Diaries forum to discuss in detail with fellow fans...

Why did Katherine come back? She came back for Stefan. [It's] a bit of a game changer for the show. We have to find out how is this going to affect Damon and Stefan.

Will we learn more about Katherine? There's so much to still know about 1864. What happened? Why wasn't she in the tomb? How did she escape? Where did she go? Why did she come to Mystic Falls to begin with? What brought her to Mystic Falls? And so there are all those fun questions that we're gonna explore and how the Lockwood curse figures into it.

Katherine Photograph

Will there be flashbacks again? Certainly we have three flashback episodes planned, and I'm guessing there'll be four.

Any more Isobel sightings? We haven't individually broken down the back 9 episodes so I'd hate to say no and then turn around and do it and make a liar out of me. So I would say not in the first 12.

What will Tyler's role look like? Tyler's going to sort of learn through the help of his Uncle Mason who comes to town in the very first episode, who and what he is. He's gonna learn about the curse, who he is and how he responds to it.

The Vampire Diaries Season 2 Preview: "I'm Katherine"

We haven't officially met. I'm Katherine.

The cast and crew of The Vampire Diaries gathered at Comic-Con yesterday and presented the first official trailer for this show's highly-anticipated second season.

We'll be posting interviews with Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and other stars throughout the week - but let's start with actual footage from this fall's new episodes. As seen below, Katherine will waste no time in making her presence in Mystic Falls felt.

But you might be surprised at who she claims to have come back for.

Sit back, get comfortable and see what's in store on our favorite CW series. Then, head over to our Vampire Diaries forum and discuss it all...

Katerina Graham Teases "Stronger" Bonnie on Season Two of The Vampire Diaries

In one of our favorite developments from the first season finale of The Vampire Diaries, Bonnie made it clear to Stefan:

She's no longer an innocent, overwhelmed witch. This character means serious business, especially when it comes to keeping Elena safe.

Asked by The New York Post this week if that trait will be a focus of season two, Katerina Graham made it very clear: Oh yes! Here are a few excerpts from her interview:

Does season two pick up immediately after events from the finale?
Yep, it’s pretty insane. And I will say that Bonnie is really, really tough in the first episode back. She is not playing around. Bonnie will eff you up if you mess with her! She is also going to have to deal with Katherine. And that’s a whole new beast. Literally.

Bonnie and Damon

Will her powers will only continue to grow?
She’s going to become even stronger. But it’s important she stay vulnerable, too. You don’t want someone to raise hell with no motivation behind it. You can never forget the loss of a loved one and I don’t think she’ll ever get over losing her grams. That was her rock to this world. She wouldn’t do anything simply out of a hate for vampires. I don’t think she could ever justify that.

The Vampire Diaries returns with new episodes on September 9.

The Vampire Diaries to Introduce Mason Lockwood as Season Two Villain

Previous Vampire Diaries spoilers have revealed that viewers will learn a lot more about the werewolf history of Mystic Falls next season.

We now know at least one way this will go down: producer Julie Plec tells TV Guide Magazine that a new character will be introduced, one who it's safe to assume knows a lot about these creatures and their connection to the area.

"Our big new addition is Mason Lockwood, the mayor's much younger and cooler brother, who has been estranged from the family," she said. "His return introduces a lot of questions about what is so special about that creepy Lockwood family."

Honoring Their Past

Tyler's uncle will play a key role on season two of The Vampire Diaries. Any suggestions on who should portray him?

In other casting news, David Anders confirmed this week that he may not be finished with the series, season one finale stabbing be damned!

Sounds like John Gilbert will have competition for creepiest uncle if he does, in fact, come back this fall.

Ahead on The Vampire Diaries: Elena vs. Katherine!

The major cliffhanger on which The Vampire Diaries concluded its perfect first season will play a major role on season two, producer Julie Plec says.

Referring to the shock of Katherine arriving in Mystic Falls, Plec told TV Guide Magazine this week that "one of the big surprises [on season two] is that Katherine comes face to face with Elena."

This will be interesting for Nina Dobrev, of course, who joked about asking for two paychecks next year and talked about the challenge in playing dual roles in one scene: "It will be difficult because a lot of acting is reacting to the other person, but it'll be fun to step out of my comfort zone."
