The actor - most recently known for his run as George Minkowski on Lost; but forever known for his role in the movie Short Circuit - will play Mr. Z on the series, Betty's new landlord.

In casting the character, Ugly Betty producers said they looking for a “New York actor who could go head-to-head with America Ferrera." We think they've found him.

At the conclusion of last season, Ugly Betty viewers learned that Claire Meade had given birth to a son many years ago.

On an upcoming episode, meanwhile, Claire will decide to reconnect with the boy, who it's just been announced will be played by Neal Bledsoe.

The actor recently kissed Chuck Bass on Gossip Girl and appeared on three episodes of As the World Turns in 2007. He'll debut in December.

Shakira to Appear as Herself on Ugly Betty

Shakira, and her honest hips, will soon give acting a shot.

Ugly Betty creator, Silvio Horta says the singer will appear on an episode of the ABC hit this fall, telling People:

“We had a very memorable moment in the third episode where Betty has a makeover that goes wrong and she struts down the street to ‘Hips Don’t Lie.’ We’ve mentioned [Shakira] several times over the course of the series and have always wanted to work with her. She’s an enormous Latina icon, as is Betty, and we thought it was a perfect fit.”

Shakira

On the episode titled “The Bahamas Triangle," Shakira will assist a Mode photo shoot when the publication is on location in the tropics. Christie Brinkley will also appear during this installment, portraying the editor of a competing fashion magazine.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler will also appear on Ugly Betty this season. Get an early look at her in the role of Natalie now!

Lynn Redgrave to Help Make Over Ugly Betty

While the extent of it is unknown, Betty Suarez is undergoing a makeover this season on Ugly Betty.

Now, TV Guide Magazine reports that veteran actress Lynn Redgrave will play a key role in this transformation.

Redgrave will guest star on the two-hour season premiere of the show, which airs on October 9. She'll portray Olivia, a jewelry designer that Betty - newly promoted to Mode's features editor - comes across while working on a story.

Olivia designs beautiful, bug-like baubles. In the course of relaying her story to Betty, she inspires the show's title character to come out of her shell and blossom in a new way.

Adam Rodriguez Joins Cast of Ugly Betty

Adam Rodriguez, who played Eric Delko on CSI: Miami for seven years, is set to come aboard Ugly Betty.

The actor will play Bobby, an ex-boyfriend of Betty's sister Hilda.

"He's an old high school boyfriend, and  [he comes] back into their lives," Rodriguez told TV Guide. "A little romance buds, and there's some drama to go along with it."

But who will be involved in this romance,  Hilda or Betty? The actor wouldn't say.

"Maybe a little bit of both. We'll see how it turns out, but it's going to be a lot of fun and it's really funny," said Rodriguez, who appears in at least five episodes.

Ugly Betty also made male viewers happier this summer: it cast Brooklyn Decker in a guest-starring role.

Confirmed: Kristen Johnston Takes Over for Paula Abdul on Ugly Betty

While American Idol is still trying to determine how to replace Paula Abdul. Ugly Betty is moving forward with Kristen Johnston.

As previously reported, the actress will debut on Ugly Betty's two-hour premiere on October 9.

It's been confirmed that the former 3rd Rock from the Sun star will be playing Helen, Mode’s newest office temp and the role originally meant for Abdul.

“I’ve always considered myself a poor man’s Paula Abdul,” Johnston said to Entertainment Weekly, describing Helen as “Amanda in 10 years. She’s still trying to get into the right clubs, wearing tight dresses… tragic. I think [Helen] sees herself as Samantha from Sex and the City. Except, of course, she’s a temp.”

Ugly Betty Casting Call: Mobsters Wanted!

Sadly, Paula Abdul is not coming to Ugly Betty.

But the mob might be!

The ABC series has sent out the following casting notice for a recurring character named "Bobby." It certainly sounds like he could have appeared in The Sopranos, doesn't it?

Bobby: A thirtysomething sexy, masculine Caucasian male from Queens, Bobby works for the family business. He’s a good guy at heart, but he can also be dangerous and violent. Producers will consider only local New York actors.

Grant Bowler is coming back to Ugly Betty.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor has signed a contract with the show to reprise his role as Wilhelmina’s crooked ex-boyfriend Connor. He'll return for multiple episodes this fall.

Grant Bowler as Connor Owens

Connor was last seen at the conclusion of season three. He fled town after Betty discovered he had embezzled millions from Meade Publications. Oops!

Wilhelmina spent the rest of the season mending her broken heart. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to his appearance again.

Smith Cho Nabs Recurring Role on Ugly Betty

Smith Cho has landed a recurring role on Ugly Betty.

The actress has starred on a pair of short-lived shows: Emily's Reasons Why Not and Knight Rider. She also appeared on an episode of Entourage in 2007.

Smith Cho

Cho will debut on Ugly Betty’s two-hour October 9 season premiere - that's a Friday, remember! - as Betty’s quirky new officemate, Megan.

Betty has been promoted to features editor and she'll try to bond with Megan. Unsurprisingly, though, Cho's character won't know what to make of her.

Ugly Betty Casting Calls: Betty's Replacement and More

  • Claire Meade’s long-lost son. A recurring character, in his 20s.
  • A secret new character will enter Wilhelmina’s life in the season premiere; role is reportedly connected to the events of last May’s season finale.
  • A new man will serve as a love interest for Marc St. James.

Wilhelmina: Now, I know that over the years, the press has had a lot of fun at my expense. You've called me the 'meaner Hitler.' You've said that I'm completely bald and my wigs were made from orphan hair. You've had me sleeping with everyone from Madonna to JFK - only one of which is true.
