During a recent WWE creative team meeting, one writer pitched the idea of a John Cena heel turn.

How did Vince MaMahon react to it? Not well, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He ripped the idea for being foolish and short-sighted.

As long as Cena's merchandise sells well, expect him to remain a face.

WWE Smackdown Spoilers for 5/22/09

At this week's Friday Night Smackdown taping, the stage for Extreme Rules began to be set.

The next pay-per-view, scheduled for June 7 in New Orleans, WWE Extreme Rules will feature CM Punk vs. Umaga, and Jeff Hardy vs. Edge, in matches with unique stipulations.

WWE Spoilers: The (Delayed) Return of Shawn Michaels

It looks like Triple H will return to the ring long before Shawn Michaels.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, HBK has told company officials that he's hoping to take more time off than originally planned. Financially set for life, Michaels wants to spend more time at home with his children while they're still young.

Original plans called for Michaels to return at SummerSlam. However, he's now looking to hold his return off until late this year or early next year in order to set up a solid WrestleMania storyline.

WWE Spoilers: The Return of The Undertaker

Here's an update on when fans can next see one of their favorite WWE performers:

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Undertaker is expected to be back in action around mid-July.

Nothing is finalized yet, bit WWE officials want him to return over the summer, accumulating enough enough screen time to build to a program for SummerSlam in August.

When will Triple H return?

It's the question on the minds of alll WWE fans.

All reports indicate that The Game will wrestle again shortly after Sunday's Judgment Day PPV, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Moreover, he may make a run-in during the main event!

Remember:  Batista cost Triple H the WWE title at Backlash. Therefore, its possible the latter interferes this weekend, preventing Batista from capturing that same title from Randy Orton.

The Latest on Jeff Hardy, Contract

Jeff Hardy's WWE contract is soon coming to an end.

According to ProWrestling.net, officials are getting mixed signals about whether or not this star will immediately resign with the company. New reports say Hardy is giving friends' the impression that he wants to take time off before signing a new deal.

Many backstage admire Hardy's decision, if he does take a break.

The Big Show and Chris Jericho recently took time off and still received a big push upon their return to the ring.

When will Triple H return to the ring?

No date has been announced yet, but the star is currently booked to appear on house shows following Judgment Day. That pay-per-view will take place on May 17.

Here are a couple of scoops on a couple of WWE stars headed in opposite directions:

  • Vince McMahon no longer views The Great Khali as a main event star. It's unclear why he ever did.
  • Due to long-term uncertainty over both The Undertaker (injuries) and Jeff Hardy (contractual status) WWE official made a push to turn John Morrison face as soon as possible. He is expected to become a future headliner.
