Designated Survivor Promo: For Now I'm All You Got

If you're not excited yet about ABC's new political thriller, Designated Survivor, you will be after watching this new featurette.
Designated Survivor tells the story of Tom Kirkman, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development who is the appointed "designated survivor" during the State of the Union address.
When a terrorist attack destroys the Capitol and kills everyone inside, Kirkman immediately becomes the President of the United States.
It's not a job for which he is prepared.
And, he may not be getting a lot of support from the people around him (other than his family.)
At least not yet.
It would be crazy if one second you were a somewhat-average Joe and then in the next the President of the United States. The guy was just eating popcorn for crying outloud!
There has to be a little bit of acclimation time. Not much, though, because this was a terrorist attack, and who knows if another one is coming.
Kirkman has to be able to think on his feet. At least he's got his wife to help him out.
But, we definitely have confidence in Tom Kirkman. It's Kiefer Sutherland, guys. He won't let us down!
In the premiere, Kirkman does show he's got some gumption. You'll see.
Yes, we are pretty excited about Sutherland's return to television!
In the featurette, he talks about his thoughts after reading the script.
He never thought he'd be returning to television, but we're definitely glad he's back!
Besides Sutherland, the cast also features:
Maggie Q who plays FBI Agent Hanna Wells, who is tasked with finding out who is responsible for the attack. We're guessing Kirkman is going to want answers, and he'll want them fast!
Natascha McElhone plays Kirkman's wife, Alex. Can you imagine being thrust into the spotlight just like that? She's going to have to give up a lot now that she's the First Lady, but we think she can handle it.
Kal Penn plays Kirkman's speechwriter, Seth Wright. He doesn't have a lot of confidence in Kirkman, but hopefully that will change sooner rather than later.
LaMonica Garrett plays Kirkman's badass bodyguard, Mike Ritter.
Other cast members include: Adan Canto as Aaron Shore, Italia Ricci as Emily Rhodes, Tanner Buchanan as Leo Kirkman, and McKenna Grace as Penny Kirkman.

Designated Survivor premieres on Wednesday, September 21 at 10/9c on ABC.
