Mary McDonnell to Guest Star on The Closer

With Battlestar Galactica having officially signed off last week, it didn't take long for star Mary McDonnell to find a new role.

And TNT viewers ought to be psyched about it.

The actress will appear next season on The Closer. According to Michael Ausiello, McDonnell - who guest-starred earlier this year on Grey's Anatomy - has signed on for for a multi-episode arc as a police captain that butts heads with Kyra Sedgwick.

McDonnell will play Captain Christina Hatcher; she runs the department's Force Investigation Division and will debut early into The Closer's upcoming fifth season.
