Matt Richenthal at .It's official. Barack Obama is more popular than American Idol.
But not by much.
The President's press conference averaged a combined 22 million viewers on ABC, CBS, NBC and Univision last night; it barely defeated Matt Giardu's last appearance on Idol (21.8 million) as the top-rated hour of the evening.
Among other primetime pickings:
- Lie to Me, which aired opposite President Obama, was down a bit in total viewers from a week earlier (7.9 million versus 8 million).
- The 100th episode of Lost (8.8 million) was the night's top non-Idol series in the 18-49 year-old demographic.
