As dedicated Dollhouse followers know, Fox declined to air the original season one finale of the show.

According to creator Joss Whedon, "Epitaph One" was created to either conclude the series or to lead into the second season. Because Dollhouse has been picked up, the episode will now be included on the season one DVD, which comes out on July 28.

"You will find out snippets of everything and all of nothing," Whedon told Entertainment Weekly about the installment. "Every flashback answers something about where people are heading but brings up a lot more questions about where they end up or how they got there."

Whedon added that the second season premiere will not pick up immediately following Alpha's disappearance. A bit of time will have gone by.
