Maura Tierney to Return to Television, Rescue Me

After having to back out of a role on Parenthood due to treatment for breast cancer, Maura Tierney is returning to television.

As first reported by TV Guide, the actress will reprise her role on Rescue Me next season. She plays Kelly McPhee, Tommy Gavin's love interest on season five who ran into a burning apartment back in the day.

"When Maura comes back, it's a slightly different situation," said show star Denis Leary, also the show's co-creator and executive producer. "She doesn't really get involved in the way that she did the last time."

Rescue Me is filming seasons six and seven back to back. Look for Tierney's character to appear some time in 2011.
