Dexter returns to Showtime in September.

Following the shocking murder that concluded season four, it's already been confirmed that the show will NOT jump months or years into the future.

How come? Because (spoiler alert!), Dexter will be considered a suspect in Rita's brutal slaying, which will be a prime focus of the new season.

There will be other key issues at stake in the fall, as well: Harrison, Cody and Astor. What will happen to these children in the wake of their mother's death?

They'll move into Dexter's former apartment, along with Aunt Deb.

“It’s partially funny and partially not,” producer Chip Johannessen said to Michael Ausiello. “Deb is not exactly the most maternal person. Nobody quite knows what they’re doing, so there’s a certain kind of struggle to cope."

Dexter is one of our favorite shows on TV. We can't wait for its return.
