Moonlight to Air on The CW... For Some Reason

at .

Long before there was The Twilight Saga and The Vampire Diaries, there was Moonlight.

This vampire-centric CBS drama starred Alex O'Loughlin as Mick St. John, an immortal private investigator from Los Angeles. The show premiered in 2007 and was canceled after one season.

Now, however, The CW is (sort of) resurrecting the franchise: it will air all 16 completed episodes of Moonlight on Thursdays night at 9 p.m., folliowing Vampire Diaries reruns, starting on June 3.

Does this mean the series has a chance to be brought back full-time? It's highly unlikely, considering O'Loughlin is now attached to Hawaii Five-O.

Why didn't The CW swoop in and save Moonlight two years ago? That's easy: it aired before Edward Cullen and Stefan Salvatore made sexy, big-hearted blood suckers all the rage.

Now that vampires are more popular Justin Bieber, the network will try to capitalize on the trend as part of its summer schedule.
