This episode reminded me of why I love The Big Bang Theory.
Sure, it didn't deliver the strongest storyline in the show's history, and it was the only recent one I can think of without a B-story, but it had me laughing out loud the entire time.
Most of that was thanks to the ridiculousness of Zack. Could someone this dumb, nice and genuinely interested in being friends with our nerds exist? Possibly. Nerds are cool now and reverse bullying after high school definitely exists. Plus, this is a sitcom and characterizations are allowed.
Watching a toned-down Sheldon play off Zack's stupidity was more than enough material for the half hour. But as if the jokes weren't enough to give "The Justice League Recombination" our highest rating of the season... Penny dressed as Wonder Woman.
Maybe I'm just a geek with nerdboy fetishes, but Kaley Cuoco was only just cute to me prior to this episode. Now? She's kicked the crap out of Summer Roberts' brown-haired Wonder Woman so much I'm in love with her. Penny might have even stolen Hottest Character on Television title from Sarah Walker.
Outside of the drool factor, fans of Leonard and Penny should also have been delighted to see Penny still having feelings for Leonard. Myself? I was happy to see it, but still am not looking to them getting back together.
Yes, I'll be happy for the series to end with them together. But based on the ratings, this show has years to go, so why rush it if the episodes with them dating just aren't that funny.?
It is also sad to say, but with TBBT going on break, I'll be doing the same as your critic. Don't worry, I'll leave you in very capable hands of Jeffrey Kirkpatrick, as I go to take on yet another cartoon for TV Fanatic: Archer.
I'm very glad I was able to leave you guys on a high note and not one of the many episode where I spend paragraphs upon paragraphs bitching about Amy Farrah Fowler. She, along with the much more lovable Berndatte, was given an excuse for being off camera.
Now, I'll close out my Big Bang chapter with my favorite Big Bang Theory quotes and jokes from the episode:
Zack: I see, you were inferring that i'm stupid.
Sheldon: That's not correct. We were implying it... you then inferred it. | permalink
Zack: Where do they keep the Archie comics?
Sheldon: In the bedrooms of ten year old girls were they belong. | permalink
Sheldon: We're the Justice League of America. There's only one thing we can do - turn around and slowly walk away. | permalink
