ABC Bumps Private Practice For Off the Map Encore Tonight

at .

Off the Map got off to a bit of a shaky start last night ratings-wise, perhaps amid President Obama's Tuscon speech and ABC's resulting scheduling confusion.

Whether that's the reason or not, ABC is reportedly giving it a second shot tonight in place of what would have been an all-new episode of Private Practice.

It's a questionable move regardless, given Off the Map's so-so ratings and the continued success of Private Practice in the 10 p.m. spot after Grey's Anatomy.

Tonight's Private Practice, "Heaven Can Wait" will air February 3.

One explanation for the move: After Obama, Modern Family aired at 9:20 last night, concluding at 9:50. From 9:50-10, the end of a Modern Family repeat aired.

This may have led viewers to believe Off the Map was not starting until later or at all. Regardless, ABC wouldn't do this tonight if it didn't have high hopes for it.
