NCIS: LA Producer Speaks on Hawaii Five-0 Crossover

Daniela Ruah's recently-announced crossover to Hawaii Five-0 did not take much convincing.

NCIS: Los Angeles creator Shane Brennan says it was an easy decision for the actress, and for himself, to loan special agent Kensi Blye to a case that finds her working closely with the team on Five-0.

“The opportunity popped up and we said, ‘That’s great; let’s do it.’ Those things happen without a lot of planning," he said, adding that Ruah had never been to Hawaii and therefore jumped at the chance.

"It’s something that pops up in the writing ... It has to be organic or else it just feels bolted on. It has to be a natural extension of the story that’s going on. For Hawaii Five-0, that’s exactly what it is.”

Brennan didn't offer too many details, but said “It’s an appearance on that show that’s important and has impact,” and that NCIS: LA fans will want to tune in because there will be references to it in the future.

No plans exist for another NCIS crossover, meanwhile, but "there are always possibilities."
