“It was definitely three years for us on the show, but I think our season is about six months each. You figure about a year and a half of them knowing each other. It’s a pretty big build up!”

So said Ian Somerhalder today during an interview on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, obviously addressing the most buzzed-about moment - or few moments, really - from last Thursday's "Heart of Darkness."

The actor and the host touched on a number of other topics, as well, including Ian's charity work and a certain sought after movie role:

Would he star as Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey? "Potentially. I absolutely would be up for that. I have the book and I just started reading it. That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out, I think... Yes, beyond the shadow of a doubt I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!”
