Ian Somerhalder Speaks on Animal Sanctuary, Foundation Goals

at . Comments

TV Fanatic caught up with Ian Somerhalder at Comic-Con over the weekend, and while we had plenty of questions for the actor regarding The Vampire Diaries Season 4, we focused our interview instead on a more pressing cause:

His IS Foundation and its latest venture: building an animal sanctuary.

Somerhalder is auctioning off a date with himself in order to raise money for the cause, whose mission is to bring children together with animals in order to combat the former's bullying tendencies and create a meaningful bond between human and canine.

"We will bring the bruised together as a family to learn just how unique - and just very the same - we all are...and how if we unite...we are NOT the outcasted, we ARE the UNSTOPPABLE," the IS Foundation website reads.

Learn a lot more about the initiative, along with how you can help, now:

NOTE: Somerhalder is asking for 1,000 people to donate $10/per month. The owners and several staff members of TV Fanatic have already done so. Visit the ISF website now to chip in however you can.

Vampire Diaries Quotes

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.

Dear Diary, a chipmunk asked me my name today. I told him it was Joe. That lie, will haunt me, forever.
