Bravo to Develop Heathers Remake, Other Scripted Dramas

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bravo is developing a quintet of new, scripted programs - including a reboot of 1980s cult favorite Heathers.

Released in 1988, Heathers starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as a couple of outcast high school students, the latter of whom was forced to deal with a group of means girls... all named Heather.

The television version would reportedly pick up the action two decades later with Ryder's Veronica returning home to Sherwood and her teenage daughter dealing with young antagonists of their own.

Bravo hopes to air Heathers, along with at least a couple other scripted shows, some time in 2013.

"Through our growing slate of scripted development, we plan to build upon the success of our award-winning unscripted programming, accessing and exploring new worlds and characters while still engaging the same affluent and pop culture savvy audience that watches the Real Housewives and Top Chef," said Andrew Wang, VP scripted development and production at Bravo.

"We're excited to partner with such high-caliber talent in developing TV that pushes boundaries conceptually and thematically while still telling a fun story in the way that our audiences have come to expect from us."
